AccessAble launches new Detailed Access Guides to support inclusive hospital visits to the Royal Devon
AccessAble has partnered with the Royal Devon to deliver a comprehensive set of Detailed Access Guides, designed to make hospital visits easier, clearer, and more inclusive for everyone.
The launch event
Officially launched at a special event on the 16th April, the Guides provide accurate, reliable information to help disabled patients, visitors and staff plan their journeys with confidence.

Each guide includes photography and facts covering key features such as step-free access, entrances, parking and drop-off points, accessible toilets, hearing loops, and signage and colour contrast.
The launch event brought together service users, Governors, partners and colleagues, offering attendees the opportunity to see how the guides work in practice.
Guests also met with the patient experience team and learned more about the wider accessibility and support services available across Royal Devon sites.
Andrea Bell, Deputy Director of Nursing (Patient Experience) said:
“We’ve worked in partnership with our provider AccessAble to create these detailed access guides across our Royal Devon sites. They will help individuals with disabilities and additional needs plan their visits, avoid anxiety-inducing obstacles, and ensure our sites and services are usable and enjoyable for everyone,”
Anna Nelson, Chief Executive of AccessAble, said:
We are delighted to launch this new Accessibility Guide to the Royal Devon, prioritising accessibility and patient experience, recognising how crucial detailed access information is for disabled patients, visitors and colleagues. I would like to express my thanks to the Trust for championing the provision of healthcare accessibility information, making appointments less anxious and uncertain for disabled people.”
The Royal Devon’s commitment to providing high-quality accessibility information reflects a shared ambition to remove barriers, promote independence, and make inclusive healthcare a reality.
We’re proud to be supporting The Royal Devon and look forward to seeing the impact these Guides have on patients, colleagues and visitors.
