Become an AccessAble Student Ambassador
At AccessAble we always want to share the views of disabled people from their own experience and perspective. Which is why we’re recruiting three new AccessAble Student Ambassadors for the 2025-2026 academic year.
As we fly through summer towards autumn there are exciting new beginnings happening for many young people. For those heading to university for their first year it’s a joyful time, which can also be tinged with nerves. For disabled students those nerves can be heightened by extra considerations around accessibility.
What we’re looking for
We are looking for three students who are heading to university for their first year and are happy to share their experiences through video, photographic and written content. We would like to focus on universities which already have Detailed Access Guides, so we can highlight how they can be used around campus and in your wider student life.
There will be opportunities such as producing blog articles and social media content, taking part in podcast interviews and working on campaigns for our clients.
You can check if your university already has a Detailed Access Guide on the AccessAble website.
What we offer:
- Paid content opportunities.
- Professional content editing.
- Opportunities to share your content to a wider audience and make new connections.
- The chance to help other disabled people by providing honest and real information about your experiences.
- Networking and engagement opportunities at our events.
What we’re looking for:
- First year university student, living with any disability, who are genuinely passionate about improving accessibility and are aligned with the mission of AccessAble.
- We would prefer that you already have a wide and engaged social media audience, but this can be something you are currently growing.
- People who can produce credible and engaging content (editing support will be given by AccessAble).
- People willing to share AccessAble’s content to their audiences on a regular basis.
- People with an optimistic outlook and an ability to manage difficult situations professionally.
Ambassadors work with AccessAble on a freelance basis. Rates for all activities are negotiated individually and agreed as projects are assigned.
About AccessAble
AccessAble are the UK’s leading provider of detailed disabled access information. We give disabled people, carers, and anyone who needs to know about accessibility the detailed information they need to work out if a place is going to be accessible to them.
At AccessAble our trained surveyors produce Detailed Access Guides for our clients. They visit each site and enter thousands of pieces of information and photographs into bespoke AccessAble software to create guides. They are then available to use, for free, on the AccessAble website. The guides are 100% facts, figures and photographs. We know everyone's accessibility needs are different, which is why having detailed, accurate information is so important.
How we work together
You’ll join a positive, friendly, and talented team, where everyone is focused on success.
Our 30+ strong network of AccessAble Ambassadors (formerly AccessAble Champions) was originally established in 2018.
As an AccessAble Student Ambassador you will be asked to promote the way our guides are created through the content you produce for us. Therefore we are looking for people who are not working with other accessibility guide brands at present.
We’ll approach you each time we have a piece of work to be commissioned; sometimes individually, and sometimes as a call out to the whole network. We will always welcome your pitches too, so if you have an idea for a great piece of content feel free to get in touch.
Applications are open now! We are reviewing applications on a rolling basis and will close the application window once all the places are filled.
