Help us strengthen the voice of AccessAble’s community

AccessAble exists to enable disabled people and their families to access community and opportunity.

Our Ambassador Network plays an important role in keeping us connected to the people who use our information. We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative Chair of the AccessAble Ambassador Network who can bring fresh thinking, energy and insight to the Network and help us increase its impact.

We are looking for someone who genuinely believes in AccessAble’s mission and can help us find inventive ways to engage with disabled people, promote what makes AccessAble different and make the most of the passion, experience and ideas within our Ambassador Network.

What you’ll do

  • Bring fresh ideas for engaging existing and potential AccessAble users.
  • Coordinate and energise our Ambassador Network, helping members contribute their ideas, experience and expertise.
  • Help us communicate what makes AccessAble unique and why detailed, independently surveyed accessibility information matters.
  • Identify creative, practical and low-cost ways to increase awareness, participation and engagement.
  • Generate ideas for useful, relevant and shareable content and activity.
  • Help ensure the views and experiences of disabled people continue to inform how AccessAble communicates and develops.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with members of AccessAble’s Senior Leadership Team, providing constructive insight, challenge and ideas.
  • Build trusted relationships across the organisation and Ambassador Network, working with integrity, openness and sound judgement.
  • Work collaboratively with the AccessAble team to turn good ideas into achievable activity.

We’re looking for someone who

  • Is creative, inventive and full of ideas, particularly when working with limited budgets.
  • Has experience of building or engaging communities, networks or audiences.
  • Can bring people together, encourage participation and make sure different voices are heard.
  • Understands how strong content, storytelling and community engagement can build awareness and connection.
  • Is confident coordinating people and maintaining momentum without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.
  • Is practical as well as creative, able to turn ideas into things that can actually happen.
  • Has high levels of integrity and sound judgement, and can be trusted to handle relationships and discussions sensitively.
  • Can work confidently and constructively with senior colleagues, including members of AccessAble’s Senior Leadership Team.
  • Is comfortable contributing ideas, offering challenge and listening to different perspectives in a collaborative way.
  • Has a genuine commitment to AccessAble’s purpose and the difference we want to make.
  • Understands the importance of authentic engagement with disabled people and ensuring lived experience is central to our work.

What matters most

We are not looking for someone used to a huge marketing budget or a traditional corporate approach.

We want someone who can look at what we already have, our Ambassadors, our information, our stories, our users and our mission, and continually ask:

“How can we do something interesting and useful with this?”

Just as importantly, we want someone who will build trust, work collaboratively and bring both creativity and integrity to the role.

If you enjoy connecting people, generating ideas, and finding imaginative ways to make a difference, we’d love to hear from you.

How to apply

Please send us a CV or description of your experience and why you would love to take on this role to Careers@AccessAble.co.uk.

Please explain:

  • Why AccessAble’s mission matters to you
  • What you would bring to the Ambassador Network;
  • One or two examples of how you have used creativity or resourcefulness to engage people or build a community
