Overview

Egress

  • Students who require assistance with evacuating a building will have a Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan (PEEP). If there is an emergency on a campus or on University premises the University Security team would check if a student needed support to evacuate.
  • If you are on campus, the University Security team can be called at any time to report an incident/emergency on 01225 875 555.

Getting Inside

  • The approach to the building is step-free via slight slopes.
  • There are 3 entrances, one into the Crime Scene room and 1 each for the female and male changing areas.
  • The entrances are signed as LS.G06 (for the Crime Scene room) and Shower & Changing Room for the changing areas.
  • The Crime Scene room has ramped access.
  • The 2 changing areas have stepped access.

Getting Around

  • There is step-free level access throughout the Crime Scene room.
  • The floor surface is hard and smooth, some areas have a shiny finish.

Entrance (Crime Scene Room)

  • This entrance is located at the front of the building to the right hand side.
  • The entrance area is clearly signed.
  • There is not a canopy or recess which provides weather protection at the entrance.
  • There is step-free access via ramp at the entrance.
  • The ramp has a slight gradient.
  • The ramp is between 75cm and 150cm wide with handrails on both sides.
  • There is a key fob/card reader at a height of 108cm.
  • There is a single manual door at this entrance.
  • The door opens away from you.
  • The width of the opening is 92cm.
  • The door has a high visual contrast.
  • There is step-free level access as you enter.

Entrance (Male Changing Area)

  • This entrance is located at the front of the building to the left hand side.
  • The entrance area is clearly signed.
  • There is not a canopy or recess which provides weather protection at the entrance.

Changing Area (Male)
