Getting Help and Assistance

  • To book and obtain special assistance and for information please click here (new tab).
  • There is a member of staff available for help and assistance.
  • There is not a member of staff trained in British Sign Language.
  • There is not a member of staff trained in Irish Sign Language.
  • The alternative formats documents can be provided in include; Braille.
  • There is an assistance dog toilet or toileting area at the venue/nearby.
  • The assistance dog toilet or toileting area is located landside or airside as directed by the Special Assistance Team.
  • Water bowls for assistance dogs are available.
  • There are mobility aids available.
  • The mobility aids available include mobile hoists, ceiling track hoists, wheelchairs, shower chairs and hoist slings.
  • To obtain mobility aids please contact the Special Assistance team in the Check-in Hall.
  • There is a designated place of safety which can be used by people with dementia, autism or learning disabilities.
  • The place of safety is located in the International Departures corridor.

Ambulift

  • The clear door width of the platform lift used to access the Ambulift is 220cm.
  • The dimensions of the platform lift used to access the Ambulift are 220cm x 170cm.
  • There are separate entry and exit doors in the lift.
  • There is seating available in the Ambulift.
  • There are chairs without armrests available in the Ambulift.
  • Seats in the vehicle are reconfigured as required by the Special Assistance team members, to allow access to tie-down points for wheelchairs where necessary.

Getting from Arrivals Gate 10

Gate 10 Non-Return Entrance

  • This entrance is located at Arrivals Gate 10.
  • There is step-free access via ramp at the entrance.
  • The slight ramp is between 75cm and 150cm wide, with a handrail on the left going down.
  • The entrance area is clearly signed.
  • There are no help points available.
  • There are double automatic doors which open away from you.
  • The width of the opening is 96cm.
  • The doors has a low visual contrast.
  • There is a second set of automatic doors which open away from you.
  • The width of the opening is 96cm.
  • The second doors have a low visual contrast.

Getting from the Arrivals Gates 16, 17

Gates 16, 17 Non-Return Entrance

  • This entrance is located on the left as you enter via the Arrivals Gate.
  • There is step-free level access at the entrance.
  • The entrance area is clearly signed.
  • There are no help points available.
  • There are double automatic gates which opens away from you.
  • The width of the opening is 96cm.
  • The doors has a low visual contrast.
  • There is a second set of automatic doors which open away from you.
  • The width of the opening is 96cm.
  • The second door has a low visual contrast.
  • There is step-free access via ramp as you enter the entrance.
  • There is a slight ramp over 150cm wide beyond the entrance, with handrails on both sides.
  • The ramp overcomes the steps.
  • There are 9 steps beyond the entrance, which are clearly marked, with handrails on both sides.
  • The handrail is easy to grip.
  • The handrails cover the flight of stairs throughout its length.
  • The handrails do not extend horizontally beyond the first and last step.
  • The height of the highest step is 17cm.

Domestic Arrivals Baggage Reclaim

  • The most accessible route from Border Control to Baggage Claim has slight ramps/slopes.
  • There is clear signage to the baggage claim area.
  • There are 3 baggage carousels.
  • The baggage carousels are clearly signed.
  • Some flooring is shiny.
  • Lighting levels are moderate to good.
  • There are information screens showing carousel flight assignment.
  • There is a member of staff available to assist with retrieving baggage from the carousels.

Outsized Baggage Collection

  • Outsized baggage, pushchairs, wheelchairs and sports equipment is collected from the Outsized Baggage Collection Area next to Track 2 in the Domestic Baggage Claim area off the Arrivals Hall.
  • The double doors are remotely activated and are automatic (opening towards you). The opening width is 172cm.
  • These doors are only opened when there is baggage available to collect. The doors are held open until the room has been cleared.

Toilet and Changing Facilities

  • There is 1 toilet with adaptations.
  • The toilet with adaptations is located at the rear of the baggage area by track 3.
  • The toilet with adaptations has a left hand transfer space.
  • Step-free male and female toilet facilities are located at the rear of the baggage area by track 3.
  • Step-free standard toilets which include facilities for ambulant disabled people are located at the rear of the baggage area by track 3.
  • Parent and baby changing facilities are located at the rear of the baggage area by track 3.

Toilet with Adaptations (Track 3 - Left Hand Transfer)

  • This toilet is located at the rear of the baggage area by track 3.
  • There is step-free level access into the toilet.
  • There is pictorial, written text and ‘Not All Disabilities Are Visible’ signage on or near the door.
  • The door to enter opens outwards and has a medium visual contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the toilet door opening is 79cm.
  • The door has a lever twist lock.

  • There is a grab rail on the internal door with a medium visual contrast.

  • The lateral transfer space is 95cm (from the side of the toilet pan to the wall).
  • There is a push button flush on the wall above the toilet.
  • There is no horizontal grab rail for the toilet.

  • There is a dropdown rail on the transfer side.
