Overview

Getting Inside

  • The approach to the building is step-free and level.
  • 373 Euston Road has one entrance. This entrance provides step-free access via a slight slope to the ground floor. There are push pad activated, double automatic doors at the entrance.
  • The entrance is signed as 'Birkbeck, University of London'.

Getting Around

  • There is step-free level access throughout the majority of the building on all floors.
  • On the basement level there are steps leading up to the main reception from the Weston Active Learning Centre seating area. These can be bypassed by using the lift between the basement and ground levels.
  • On level 4 there is a slight slope in the corridor as you exit the lift to the left.
  • Floor surfaces along all circulation routes are hard and smooth with a shiny finish.
  • There are no resting areas in circulation areas but some resting areas in the main reception area and the Weston Active Learning Centre on the basement level.
  • Wall mounted wayfinding signage is provided throughout the building.
  • There are some manual doors in circulation corridors, but mostly just to access stairwells.

Toilet and Changing Facilities

    • There are 5 toilets with adaptations.
    • Toilets with adaptations are located on the basement level, level 1, level 2, level 3 and level 4.
    • The transfer space varies between left and right in the toilets with adaptations.
    • Ambulant toilet facilities are located in the gender inclusive toilets on the ground level, level 2 and level 4.
    • The gender inclusive step-free toilet facilities are located on the basement level, ground level, level 2 and level 4.
    • The female step-free toilet facilities are located on levels 1 and 3.
  • Washroom and Shower Facilities View
    • The shower facilities which have adaptations are located in the toilet with adaptations on the basement level.

Parking

    • There is not a designated drop-off point available.
  • On-street Parking View
    • On-street designated Blue Badge parking and standard parking is available .
    • The on-street designated Blue Badge parking bays are located on Warren Street.
    • The Blue Badge bays are clearly marked and signposted.
    • Holders of the London Borough of Camden's Green Badge can also park in any shared use loading bays, shared use disabled bays, resident's bays and paid for parking bays.

Reception (Main Reception)

  • The reception is located to the right as you enter.
  • The distance from the main entrance is 3m.
  • The most accessible route to reception has uneven surfaces.
  • There is step-free level access to reception.
  • The height of the reception desk is 110cm.
  • There is a lowered section at the desk.
  • The height of the lowered section is 80cm.
  • There is not a hearing assistance system.
