Access To

  • E145 - Civils Laboratory is located within the Higginson Building on the first floor.
  • The most accessible route, is via the Christopherson Building. Take the lift to the second floor and turn left. Follow the corridor around to the right. There is a steep slope before crossing the glass bridge into the Higginson Building.
    On entering the Higginson Building take the lift located on the left to the first floor. Exit the lift and turn left.

  • The most accessible route has a lift, steep ramps or slopes, manual doors and shiny flooring.
  • The slope has a slight gradient.
  • There is written text and numbered signage on or near the entrance.
  • There is step-free level access into E145 - Civils Laboratory.
  • There are double manual doors which open away from you.
  • One of the doors was locked at the time of the survey.
  • The width of the opening is 77cm.
  • The doors have a low visual contrast.

Teaching

  • This is a lab.
  • There is step-free level access throughout the room.
  • There is room for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm).
  • There is not a hearing assistance system.
  • Some flooring is shiny.
  • Floor coverings are even with no trip hazards.
  • The walls and floor have a medium visual contrast.
  • Lighting levels were uneven at the time of the survey, with pools of light and shade.
