Access Guide
Access To
- TLC042 - Lecture Theatre is located in the rear right of the Teaching and Learning Centre.
- The main entrance into the theatre is located on the ground floor, however the most accessible entrances is located on the first floor.
The first floor entrances gives access to the designated wheelchair seating area. - View information on Teaching and Learning Centre (opens new tab) .
- The most accessible route has step-free level access, a lift and doors permanently held open.
- There is written text and numbered signage on or near the entrance.
- There is step-free level access into TLC042 - Lecture Theatre.
- There are double manual doors which open towards you.
- One of the doors was locked at the time of the survey.
- The width of the opening is 85cm.
- The doors have a high visual contrast.
- There is a second single manual door which opens towards you.
- The door has a locked extension leaf.
- The width of the opening is 85cm.
- The second door has a high visual contrast.
- There are three access points into the theatre.
Within the three, two are located on the first floor, and will lead the user to both rear corners of the theatre where a wheelchair seating area is located at each entrance.
The last entrance is located on the ground floor which gives accessible access to the speaker's area.
All access points have the similar dimensions and features.
Teaching
- This is a lecture theatre.
- There is step-free level access to the front and back rows only.
- There is room for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm).
- There is a fixed hearing assistance system which is not clearly signed.
- The hearing assistance system could not be tested at the time of the survey.
- Floor coverings are even with no trip hazards.
- The walls and floor have a high visual contrast.
- Lighting levels were even at the time of the survey.
- There is tiered seating with no handrails at the steps.
- There are designated spaces for wheelchair users.
- The designated spaces for wheelchair users are located both rear corners of the theatre, on the last row.
- There is step-free level access to the designated space surveyed.
- Companions sit next to you and in front of you.
- There is space for an assistance dog to rest.
- Seating available in the room includes: chairs without armrests.
- Furniture available in the room includes: long tables.
- The chairs and tables are fixed.
- The surface heights are not suitable for wheelchair users.
- The clear underside space of the surfaces is not suitable for wheelchair users.
- The height of the speaker's desk/table is 90cm.
- The speaker's desk/table is not height adjustable.
- This room has a television screen, a projector screen and a whiteboard.
