Overview

Getting Inside

  • The approach to the building is step-free and level.
  • The step-free approach to the building is from Cowcaddens Road or the Arc Health and Wellbeing Facility.
  • There is stepped access on the approach from the main campus. The steps from the main campus can be bypassed using the first floor entrance then the lift in the Arc Health and Wellbeing Facility to access this building via the link entrance.
  • Centre for Executive Education (CEE) has four entrances.
  • Two external entrances provide step-free level access to the Ground floor.
  • Two internal link entrances provide step-free level access to Levels 1 and 2.
  • There are double automatic doors at the main entrance, a single automatic door at the Out of Hours Lab entrance, and manual double doors at the internal link entrances.
  • The main entrance is signed as 'Centre for Executive Education'.
    The door along to the left of the main entrance is signed as 'OUT OF HOURS LAB'.
    The first floor internal entrance is signed as 'CEE'.

Getting Around

  • There is step-free level access throughout the majority of the building on all floors.
  • On the Ground floor there is a slight slope to rooms GEE_1 to GEE_4.
  • Floor surfaces along all circulation routes are hard and smooth.
  • There are resting areas in some circulation and lobby areas with a mixture of seating.
  • Wall mounted wayfinding signage is provided throughout the building.
  • There are not manual doors in any circulation corridors, only to access stairwells.

Toilet and Changing Facilities

  • Toilet Facilities View
    • There are 3 toilets with adaptations.
    • Toilets with adaptations are located through to the left as you enter the main entrance, to the right from the lift on Level 1, and round to the left from the lift on Level 2.
    • All toilets with adaptations have a right hand transfer space.
    • The male and female step-free standard toilet facilities are located through to the left as you enter the main entrance, to the right from the lift on Level 1, and round to the left from the lift on Level 2.

Entrance (Main)

  • This entrance is located at the front of the building.
  • The entrance area is clearly signed.
  • There is not a canopy or recess which provides weather protection at the entrance.
  • There is step-free access via a very easy slope at the entrance.
  • There are double automatic doors at this entrance.
  • The doors open by sliding.
  • The width of the opening is 166cm.
  • There is a small lip on the threshold of the opening.
  • The doors have a low visual contrast.
  • There is a second set of double automatic doors.
  • The second set of doors open by sliding.
  • The width of the opening is 161cm.

Lift (Main)

  • The lift surveyed is located to the left as you enter the main entrance.
  • The distance from the main entrance is 15m.
  • The most accessible route to the lift has step-free level access.
  • The Ground floor and Levels 1 and 2 are accessed by this lift.
  • The lift door has a high visual contrast.
  • The lift has a level manoeuvring space in front of it for a wheelchair user (150cm x 150cm).
  • The weight limit for the lift is 630kg.
  • The external lift control buttons have a low visual contrast.
  • None of the external lift controls are at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.
  • The lift door opening width is 80cm.
  • The internal dimensions of the lift are 108cm (width) x 140cm (depth).

  • The steps have faded markings and have handrails on both sides.
  • The handrails are easy to grip.
  • The handrails cover the flight of stairs throughout its length.
  • The handrails do not extend horizontally beyond the first and last step.
  • The height of the steps is between 15cm and 18cm.
  • The height of the highest step is 17cm.
  • The depth of the steps is not between 30cm and 45cm.
  • Lighting levels vary due to the use of large glazed walls.
  • Some sections of the staircase have partially open risers.

Lift (Upper Levels)

  • The most accessible route to the lift has step-free level access.

  • Dimensions and Features View
    • The dimensions of the cubicle are 165cm (width) x 199cm (depth) and there is not room for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm).
    • There is a lateral transfer space to the right as you face the toilet, however it is obstructed.
    • The lateral transfer space is 95cm (from the side of the toilet pan).
    • There is a lever flush on the transfer side.
    • There is a horizontal grab rail on the non-transfer side.
