Overview

Getting Inside

  • The approach to the building is step-free via slight or very slight slopes.
  • The step-free approach to the building is from Central Drive.
  • Hornbeam has three entrances. All three provide access to level 0 of the building.
    The most accessible is the main entrance, which has step-free, level access with push pad activated, double automatic doors.
  • The main entrance is not named (signed as Hornbeam).
    The other entrances are signed as B and C.
  • Entrance B, located at the rear of the building has a single manual door with step-free access.
    Entrance C, also located at the rear of the building has a single manual door with stepped access.

Getting Around

  • There is step-free level access throughout the building on all floors.
  • Level 0 is divided into main and upper sections; the upper section is accessed internally via a stair lift or steps and accessed externally via entrance B.
  • Access to rooms 0.36 - 0.56 on upper level 0 is via 6 clearly marked steps with a handrail on each side. Alternatively, there is a stair lift to overcome the steps.
  • Floor surfaces along circulation routes are hard and smooth or carpeted and smooth.
  • There are resting areas in some circulation and lobby areas with a mixture of seating.
  • Overhead and wall mounted wayfinding signage is provided throughout the building.
    The signage does vary in terms of type, font and colour.
  • There are manual doors along circulation routes throughout the building.

Toilet and Changing Facilities

  • Toilet Facilities View
    • There is 1 toilet with adaptations.
    • The toilet with adaptations is located on level 0, left from the main entrance, close to the main lift.
    • The toilet with adaptations has a right hand transfer space.
    • The male and female step-free toilet facilities are located on level 0, left from the main entrance, close to the main lift.
  • Washroom and Shower Facilities View
    • Standard shower facilities are located on level 0, left from the main entrance, close to the main lift.

    • There is not a designated drop-off point available.
  • On-street Parking View
    • On-street designated Blue Badge parking is available .
    • The on-street designated Blue Badge parking bays are located There is a single Blue Badge Bay, on the service road at the rear of the building.
    • The Blue Badge bays are clearly marked and signposted.

Entrance (Main)

  • This entrance is located at the front of the building.
  • The entrance area is clearly signed.
  • There is a canopy or recess which provides weather protection at the entrance.
  • There is step-free level access at the entrance.
  • There are double automatic doors at this entrance.
  • The doors open by sliding.
  • There is a push pad at a height of 92cm.
  • The width of the opening is 132cm.
  • There is a small lip on the threshold of the opening.
  • The doors have a low visual contrast.
  • There is a push pad or push button to exit at a height of 94cm.
  • There is a second set of double automatic doors .
  • The second set of doors open by sliding.
  • The push pad for the automatic doors is at a height of 95cm.
  • The width of the opening is 130cm.
  • The second set of doors have a low visual contrast.

Lift

  • The lift surveyed is located at the front of the building, left from the main entrance.
  • The distance from the main entrance. is 10m.
  • The most accessible route to the lift has manual doors.
  • Levels 0, 1, 2 and 3 are accessed by this lift.
  • The lift door has a high visual contrast.
  • The lift has a level manoeuvring space in front of it for a wheelchair user (150cm x 150cm).
  • The weight limit for the lift is 900kg.
  • The external lift control buttons have tactile markings and a high visual contrast.
  • All of the external lift controls are at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.
  • The lift door opening width is 90cm.
  • The internal dimensions of the lift are 125cm (width) x 138cm (depth).
  • The internal lift control buttons have tactile markings and a high visual contrast.
  • All of the internal lift controls are at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.
  • Internally the lift has: a mirror to aid reversing, a hearing assistance alarm system, a visual floor indicator and an audible announcer.

Stairs

Toilet with Adaptations (Level 0 - Right Hand Transfer)

  • Dimensions and Features View
    • The dimensions of the cubicle are 137cm (width) x 205cm (depth) and there is not room for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm).
    • There is a lateral transfer space to the right as you face the toilet, however it is obstructed.
    • The lateral transfer space is 64cm (from the side of the toilet pan).
