Overview

Getting Inside

  • The approaches to the building are step-free via slight slopes.
  • Old Building has five entrances. Four entrances provide ramped access to the ground floor via double push pad activated, automatic doors. One entrance is stepped and has double manual doors.
  • One entrance is signed as Old Building Accessible Entrance. Two entrances are signed as LSE Old Building. One entrance is signed as Student Services Centre. One entrance is signed as Stairwell B.
  • The Accessible Entrance on Portugal Street provides step-free ramped access to the reception foyer on the ground floor.
  • The main entrance located on Houghton Street has step-free access via a slight ramp and platform lift. The entrance located on the corner of Clare market has stepped access. The Stairwell B entrance and Student Services entrance off Clare Market have step-free access via a slight ramp.

Getting Around

  • There is step-free access throughout the majority of the building, via lift.
  • There is a slight ramp on the first floor opposite the rear lift with a handrail on the right going up for access to rooms 1.07 - 1.11. There is a similar ramp to access rooms 1.13 - 1.18.
  • There are 7 clearly marked steps with a handrail on the right going down for access to the gymnasium. There are 7 clearly marked steps with a handrail on both sides going up for access to the badminton court. There are 4 marked steps leading up with handrails on both sides to access the locker room located before the steps to the gymnasium. There is a steep ramp with no handrails for access to the basement floor from the stairwell .
  • There is a slight ramp with no handrails for access to the Department of Social Policy Rooms 2.49 - 2.63. There are 8 clearly marked steps with handrails on both sides for access to the rear of the second floor. The platform lift overcomes the steps. There are 7 clearly marked steps with a handrail on the left going up for access to rooms M2.02 - M2.19 on level 2M.
  • Floor surfaces along all circulation routes are hard and smooth, with some having a shiny finish. .
  • There are resting areas in some circulation and lobby areas with a mixture of seating.
  • There is wall mounted wayfinding signage provided at key points of circulation routes. .
  • There are doors in corridors which have to be opened manually.

Parking

    • There is not a designated drop-off point available.
  • On-street Parking View
    • On-street designated Blue Badge parking and standard parking is available .

Entrance (Main Entrance)
