Getting In and Around

- There is step-free level access via lift at the most accessible entrance.
- There is step-free level access throughout the majority of areas.
- The following areas have step-free access via ramps or slopes: the route to the departure gates.
Getting Help and Assistance

- There is a member of staff available for help and assistance.
- British Sign Language can be provided virtually.
- There is a designated assistance dog spending area.
- The sunflower room is located in the Terminal 1 Departures Lounge.
There is an assistance dog spending area located in Terminal 2 next to Departure Gates B.
Passengers are escorted to this area by a member of staff.
Passengers with booked assistance: Passengers who have booked assistance should note that you can only be dropped off near to the Departures area.
If you require help to get to the assistance check-in desk, passenger's helpers are required to park in the short-term parking at arrivals, walk through to arrivals, go up a lift and around the corner to reach the assistance check-in desk, and request further assistance for the passenger.
All parking in the multi-storey is pre-booked only.

Getting To Departure Gates
- The start and end of the travelators are clearly marked.
- There are gaps between the travelators along the route.
- Assistance vehicles are available.
- There are resting/seating areas along the route.
- Wayfinding signage is available along the route.
- Lighting levels are moderate to good.

There is a slight ramp from the lift.
There is steep slope at the end of the walkway before turning left towards the departure gates.
Toilet and Changing Facilities
- There are 4 toilets with adaptations.
- Toilets with adaptations are located at Gates 3/4 and 7/8.
- The transfer space within the toilets with adaptations varies between left and right.
- Step-free male and female toilet facilities are located at Gates 3/4.
- Step-free male and female toilet facilities are located at Gates 7/8.
- Step-free standard toilets which include facilities for ambulant disabled people are located at Gates 3/4 and 7/8.
- Parent and baby changing facilities are located at Gates 3/4 and 7/8.
Lift (Departure Lounge to Gate Walkway)
- The lift is located at the rear of the departure lounge, near the special assistance point.
- The floors which are accessible by the lift surveyed are floors 2 and 3.
- The lift does have a recommended turning space (150cm x 150cm) in front of it.
- The lift door has a high visual contrast.
- The external lift control buttons have a low visual contrast.
- All of the external lift controls are at the recommended height (between 90cm - 120cm).
- The lift door opening width is 120cm.
- The internal dimensions of the lift are 138cm x 240cm.
- The internal lift control buttons have tactile markings, a low visual contrast and Braille markings.
- All of the internal lift controls are at the recommended height (between 90cm - 120cm).
- Internally the lift has: a hearing assistance alarm system, a visual floor indicator, an audible announcer and a list of floor services/facilities.
- Lighting levels are moderate to good.
- There are other lifts which are similar in size at the same location.
Escalator (Departure Lounge to Gate Walkway)
- The escalator is located at the rear of the departure lounge, after the special assistance area.
- The floors which are accessible by escalator are departure lounge and the A gates walkway.
- The escalator only goes down.
- The escalator steps are unmarked.
- The foot (bottom) and head (top) of the escalator are clearly marked.
- Lighting levels are moderate to good.
Stairs (Departure Lounge to Gate Walkway)
- The floors which are accessible by stairs are departure lounge and the A gates walkway.
- There are more than 20 steps, which are clearly marked, with handrails on both sides.
- The handrails are not easy to grip.
- The handrails cover the flight of stairs throughout its length.
- The handrails extend horizontally beyond the first and last step.
- Steps are split with a resting area.
- The height of the highest step is 16cm.
- Lighting levels are moderate to good.
Seating Area
- The seating area is located at all departure gates and desks.
- There is step-free level access in this area.
- There is designated seating available for people who require assistance.
- There is space for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre in the seating area (150cm x 150cm).
- There is space for an assistance dog to rest in the seating area.
- There are fixed chairs with armrests available in this area.
- Some flooring is shiny.
- There is no (or very little) background noise.

Toilet with Adaptations (Gate A1 - Right Hand Transfer)
- This toilet is located opposite Gate A1.
- There is step-free level access into the toilet.
- There is pictorial, written text and ‘Not All Disabilities Are Visible’ signage on or near the door.
- The door to enter opens outwards and has a low visual contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the toilet door opening is 116cm.
- The door has a lever twist lock.
- Internally the door has a low visual contrast.
- There is a grab rail on the internal door with a high visual contrast.
- The dimensions of the cubicle are 226cm x 239cm and it has a turning space of at least 150cm x 150cm.
- There is a lateral transfer space to the right of the seat but it is obstructed.
- The lateral transfer space is 160cm (from the side of the toilet pan to the wall).
