Getting In and Around
View
- There is step-free level access at the most accessible entrance.
- There is step-free level access throughout, this may include the use of a lift.
- Gates 144 to 150 can be accessed via a standard lift.
Getting Help and Assistance

- There is a member of staff available for help and assistance.
- British Sign Language can be provided virtually.
- There is a designated assistance dog spending area.
- The sunflower room is located in the Terminal 1 Departures Lounge.
There is an assistance dog spending area located in Terminal 2 next to Departure Gates B.
Passengers are escorted to this area by a member of staff.
Passengers with booked assistance: Passengers who have booked assistance should note that you can only be dropped off near to the Departures area.
If you require help to get to the assistance check-in desk, passenger's helpers are required to park in the short-term parking at arrivals, walk through to arrivals, go up a lift and around the corner to reach the assistance check-in desk, and request further assistance for the passenger.
All parking in the multi-storey is pre-booked only.

Getting To Departure Gates
- Assistance vehicles are not available.
- There are resting/seating areas along the route.
- Wayfinding signage is available along the route.

Toilet and Changing Facilities
- There is 1 toilet with adaptations.
- The toilet with adaptations is located on Level 1.
- Step-free male and female toilet facilities are located on Level 1.
- Parent and baby changing facilities are located on Level 1.
Entrance (Security to Gates 141 to 150)
- This entrance is located beyond the departure lounge.
- There is step-free level access at the entrance.
- The entrance area is not clearly signed.
- There are no help points available.
- There is a single automatic gate which opens away from you.
- The width of the opening is 118cm.
- The gate has a low visual contrast.
- There is step-free level access as you enter the entrance.
Lift (Lift to Gates 144 to 150)
- The lift is located on the right after Gate 143.
- The floors which are accessible by the lift surveyed are floors 1 and 3.
- The lift does have a recommended turning space (150cm x 150cm) in front of it.
- The lift door has a high visual contrast.
- The external lift control buttons have a low visual contrast.
- All of the external lift controls are at the recommended height (between 90cm - 120cm).
- The lift door opening width is 74cm.
- The internal dimensions of the lift are 110cm x 140cm.
- The internal lift control buttons have tactile markings and a medium visual contrast.
- All of the internal lift controls are at the recommended height (between 90cm - 120cm).
- Internally the lift has: a visual floor indicator, an audible announcer and a list of floor services/facilities.
- Lighting levels are moderate to good.
Stairs (Stairs to Gates 144 to 150)
- The floors which are accessible by stairs are floors 1 and 3.
- There are more than 20 steps, which are clearly marked, with handrails on both sides.
- The handrails are easy to grip.
- The handrails cover the flight of stairs throughout its length.
- The handrails extend horizontally beyond the first and last step.
- Steps are split with a resting area.
- The height of the highest step is 16cm.
- Lighting levels are moderate to good.
Seating Area
- The seating area is located at each boarding gate.
- There is step-free level access in this area.
- There is not designated seating available for people who require assistance.
- There is space for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre in the seating area (150cm x 150cm).
- There is space for an assistance dog to rest in the seating area.
- There are a mixture of fixed chairs with and without armrests available in this area.
- Some flooring is shiny.
- There is no (or very little) background noise.
- There is not a hearing assistance system.
- Lighting levels are varied.
Parent and Baby Room / Baby Feeding Room
- There is step-free level access into the room.
- The door to enter opens inwards and has a high visual contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the door opening is 77cm.
- Internally the door has a high visual contrast.
- The baby change facility when in use is at a height of 101cm from the floor.
- The wash basin tap type is lever mixer.
- There are no seats available in this room.
- There is not a toilet in the parent and baby room.
- The room has a waste bin and a nappy/incontinence items bin.
Departure Gates
- The departure gate(s) in this area are 141, 142, 143, 144, 145, 147, 148, 149 and 150.
- There is clear signage to the departure gates.
- The height of the documentation check desk is very high (111cm+).
- There is a lowered section of the documentation check desk available at 141, 142, 143, 144, 145, 147, 148, 149 and 150.
- There is step-free access to 141, 142, 143, 150.
- There is step-free access via lift to 144, 145, 147 and 148.
- The gradient of the airbridge ramps may vary as they are height adjustable.
- There is step free access to the aircraft via airbridge from 142 and 143.
- There is step free access (via lift) to the aircraft via the tarmac from 141, 144, 145, 147, 148 and 150.
- There is an Ambulift available.
- The accessibility of the individual aircraft varies depending on the provider. Please contact your airline company prior to booking for more information.
Ambulift
- The clear door width of the platform lift used to access the Ambulift is 95cm.
- The dimensions of the platform lift used to access the Ambulift are 236cm x 137cm.
- There are no separate entry and exit doors in the lift.
- There is seating available in the Ambulift.
- There are chairs with armrests and bench seats available in the Ambulift.
