  • About View
    • This guide covers the departure lounge.
    • Facilities available in the venue include: shops, restaurants, a café and a special assistance area.
  • Getting In and Around View
    • There is step-free access via ramp at the most accessible entrance.
    • There is step-free level access throughout the majority of areas, this may include the use of a lift.
    • The following areas have step-free access via ramps or slopes: The route from security to the lower level lounge.
    • The lounge upper level and Level L for the additional seating area can be accessed via a standard lift.

Getting Help and Assistance

  • There is a member of staff available for help and assistance.
  • British Sign Language can be provided virtually.
  • There is a designated assistance dog spending area.
  • The sunflower room is located in the Terminal 1 Departures Lounge.
    There is an assistance dog spending area located in Terminal 2 next to Departure Gates B.
    Passengers are escorted to this area by a member of staff.
    Passengers with booked assistance: Passengers who have booked assistance should note that you can only be dropped off near to the Departures area.
    If you require help to get to the assistance check-in desk, passenger's helpers are required to park in the short-term parking at arrivals, walk through to arrivals, go up a lift and around the corner to reach the assistance check-in desk, and request further assistance for the passenger.
    All parking in the multi-storey is pre-booked only.

Seating Area (Lower Level)

Special Assistance (Special Assistance Area)

  • The external lift control buttons have a high visual contrast.
  • All of the external lift controls are at the recommended height (between 90cm - 120cm).
  • The lift door opening width is 80cm.
  • The internal dimensions of the lift are 147cm x 140cm.
  • The internal lift control buttons have a high visual contrast and tactile markings.
  • Some of the internal lift controls are at the recommended height (between 90cm - 120cm).

Steps (Lower to Upper Level Departure Lounges)

  • The steps are located at the rear of the lower departure lounge.
  • The steps are used to access the upper level of the departure lounge and world duty free.

  • World Duty Free is located on lounge level 2.

  • The main aisle width is under 180cm.
  • The majority of aisle widths are not 150cm+.
  • There is not clear signage to the departure lounge.
  • There is background noise.
  • Lighting levels are varied.
  • The counter is located at the rear of the World Duty Free.
  • There is step-free level access to the counter.
  • There is a clear accessible route to the counter.
  • The height of the counter is 105cm.
  • The lowered section of the counter is at a height of 76cm.
  • There is not a clear knee recess beneath the lowered section.
  • There are patterned backgrounds which may affect the ability of someone to lip read.
  • There is not a hearing assistance system.
  • There are self service tills which have touch screens with controls between 107cm and 139cm high.
