Equipment and Resources to Borrow

Route to (the Tin Exhibition)

  • From the site entrance walk straight ahead, past the book shop and toilets on your left.
    After going through a set of open gates the exhibition is on the right.
  • The route to the area is step-free level.
  • Path surfaces along the route are gravel and paving stones.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Entrance

  • The entrance surveyed is located at the front of the building.
  • There is step-free access via ramp at the entrance.
  • There are double manual doors which are permanently open.
  • The width of the opening is 193cm.
  • There is a steep ramp between 75cm and 150cm wide beyond the entrance, with handrails on both sides.
  • The ramp overcomes the steps.
  • There are 2 steps beyond the entrance, which are unmarked, with a handrail on the left going up.
  • The handrails do not cover all steps.
  • All of the steps are not at the recommended height (between 15cm - 18cm).

Attraction / Exhibit

  • The majority of walkway widths are over 180cm.
  • There is no (or very little) background noise here.
  • Exhibit information includes the following formats: pictorial, information board and television/screen.
  • The exhibits do not have hearing assistance systems.
  • There is step-free level access around the area.
  • There are tables and sofas available in the area.
  • All flooring in the area is smooth and even.
  • Lighting levels are low in some areas.
