Summary

Equipment and Resources to Borrow

  • You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
  • Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders and fidget toys.
  • You can borrow these from Visitor Reception. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.

Admissions

  • At this location the following are free to access for all visitors: the grounds and Farmers Fayre Café.
  • At this location the following areas are free to access for National Trust members but payable for everyone else: the Charterhouse and Walled Garden.
  • This site offers companion or carer discounts.

Parking

  • This site has a car park.
  • This car park has a maximum vehicle height restriction of 205cm.
  • This is an open air car park with a tarmac surface.
  • Parking is free for National Trust members, but charges apply for all other visitors.
  • There are clearly presented payment signs.
  • Maps and information boards are not available.
  • There are 5 Blue Badge parking bays.
  • The dimensions of the designated Blue Badge parking bay(s) surveyed are 175cm x 490cm.
  • There is a hatched zone on both sides and to the rear.
  • The hatched zone is under 120cm wide.
  • There are not parent and child parking bays available.
  • There is not a designated drop-off point.

Public Transport

Outdoor Spaces

  • The following outdoor facilities are available: a playground.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: concrete or tarmac, grass and uncompacted earth.
  • Footpaths are available in all of the outdoor spaces.
  • The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is step-free level access around some of the area.
  • There are slight ramps/slopes without handrails and steep ramps/slopes without handrails in the main areas.
  • The slopes are along the paths around the pond and leading to the playground area from the car park.
  • There are some bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
  • The paths have gates which may create obstacles for some users.
  • There is swing gate located between the car park, playground and the path to Charterhouse. The gate can be bypassed by using the path next to it.
  • Playground View
    • There are no firm and even routes over 150cm wide round the play equipment.
    • The play equipment is in easy reach for seated and standing users, and users of different heights.
    • The following play experiences are available: swinging, sliding, climbing and balancing.
