Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: accessible maps.
- You can borrow these from visitor recepetion. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
- Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.
Route to (the Garden)
- From the visitor reception, turn right and go straight ahead along the path leading away from the car park.
Cross the service road and enter the garden through the gate. - The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are gravel, bonded gravel and tarmac.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
Outdoor Spaces
- This information is for the access point located at the front of the garden, along the path leading beyond the visitor reception from the car park.
- Access into the area is via a slight ramp/slope.
- The slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
- There is a gate at the surveyed access point which is permanently held open.
- The width of the gap is 159cm.
- The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: grass, wood bark, bonded gravel, shingle and block paving.
- Footpaths are available in some of the outdoor spaces.
- The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no step-free level access around the area.
- There are slight ramps/slopes without handrails, more than 3 steps with handrails, more than 3 steps without handrails and steep ramps/slopes without handrails in the main areas .
- There are 5 steps with handrails on both sides to access the part of the garden in front of the East Pavilion from the front of the house. These are bypassed by a steep slope with no handrails.
There are 10 steps with no handrails to access the Tea Garden from the Spring Border. These can be bypassed by a steep ramp and steep slope.
There is a steep slope leading up to the Gothic Seat with no handrails.
There are 4 steps with no handrails to access the Old Dairy from the Crab Apple Glade.
There are 5 steps with handrails on both sides to access the part of the garden in front of the Old Dairy from the front of the house. - There are bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
