Equipment and Resources to Borrow

  • Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.

Route to (the Meadow)

  • From the visitor reception, turn right and go straight ahead along the path leading away from the car park.
    Cross the service road and enter the garden through the gate.
    Continue straight ahead along the main tree-lined pathway as it slopes downhill.
    Go up the slope to the left of the house, and cross the lawn in front of the East Pavilion. The Meadow is straight ahead.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope and is step-free via a steep ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are tarmac, bonded gravel, grass and gravel.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Outdoor Spaces (Meadow)

  • This information is for the access point located on the lawn in front of the East Pavilion.
  • Access into the area is via a slight ramp/slope.
  • The slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
  • There is a gate at the surveyed access point which opens away from you (push).
  • The gate is not self-closing.
  • The gate has a latch lock.
  • The width of the gap is 135cm.
  • The following outdoor facilities are available: parkland.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: grass.
  • Footpaths are available in some of the outdoor space.
  • The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is step-free level access around some of the area.
  • There are steep ramps/slopes without handrails and slight ramps/slopes without handrails in the main areas .
  • There are slight and steep slopes throughout some areas of the meadow.
  • There are some bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.

Hikes and Trails (Meadow Walk)

  • The walk is approximately 0.6 miles.
  • Facing the house entrance, turn left up the slope and bear right across the lawn in front of the East Pavilion.
    Enter the meadow through the gate, turn left, and follow the mown path along the perimeter of the meadow.
    Enter the Crab Apple Glade and head up the steps towards the terrace in front of the Old Dairy.
    Go straight ahead along this terrace, with the buildings on the left.
    Descend the steps back to the start of the route in front of the house.
  • The walk is not open 24 hours.
  • The route includes the following surfaces: grass, gravel, paving slabs, bonded gravel, tarmac, compacted gravel and wood.
  • Some of the route contains very uneven surfaces, steep gradients and steps.
  • These are found in the following areas: all sections of the route.
  • There are no alternative routes to avoid these areas.
  • The route is not clearly signposted.
  • The route has handheld maps.
  • Seating is available on the route.
  • There are no toilet facilities along the route.
