Admissions

Public Transport
- There is not a bus stop within approximately 150m of the property.
- There is a bus stop immediately outside the vehicular entrance to the property, on the B2146. This is approximately 650 metres from the visitor reception.
- The nearest train station is Petersfield.
- Petersfield station is approximately 5.5 miles away, with regular direct bus services from here to the bus stop outside the vehicular entrance to the property (bus route 54).
Parking
- The property has a car park.
- The vehicle route from the main road to the car park includes: speed bumps.
- This is an open air car park with a loose chippings surface.
- Parking is free for National Trust members and Blue Badge holders, but charges apply for all other visitors.
- There are clearly presented payment signs.
- Maps and information boards are available.
- There are 6 Blue Badge parking bays.
- Obstacles from the car park include: loose chippings, slopes/ramps, uneven surfaces and a lack of pedestrian walkways to cross the car park.
- There are not parent and child parking bays available.
- There is a designated drop-off point which is flush to the footpath.
- A disabled drop off point/parking area can be made available directly outside the house entrance - please contact the venue in advance or speak to staff/volunteers on the day to arrange use of this.
Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.

- Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.
Visitor Reception
- Access into the area is via a steep ramp/slope.
- The ramp is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
- The door is manual, permanently held open and has a low colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the door opening is 147cm.
- Internally the door has a low colour contrast.
- There is a small lip on the threshold of the doorway with a height of more than 1.5cm.
- There is step-free level access around the area.
- There is room for wheelchair users to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm) throughout the area.
- All flooring is smooth and even.
- Some of the flooring has a very shiny finish, which could cause issues with glare or look slippery to some people.
- There is step-free level access to the counter.
- The height of the counter is 92cm.
- There is not a low level section at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.
- The counter has a clearly signed hearing assistance system.
- The hearing assistance system was tested, however it was not working at the time of the survey.
- Services/facilities available include: a portable card machine for payment and a member of staff to provide assistance.
- There is background noise here which varies, depending on the time of day.
- Lighting levels are moderate to good.
- The exit door is manual, opens outwards and has a low colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the exit door opening is 78cm.
Picnic Area
- The following information describes the picnic area located on the left hand side of the path leading from the car park to the garden entrance.
- Access into the area is via a steep ramp/slope (which bypasses any steps).
- The slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
- There are 6 steps, which are unmarked, with a handrail on the right going up.
- There are picnic tables.
- No chairs have armrests on both sides.
- Adapted picnic tables are available.
- The distance between the floor and the underside of the lowest picnic table is 63cm.
- The distance between the floor and the underside of the highest picnic table is 67cm.
- The surface height of the lowest table is 69cm.
- The surface height of the highest table is 74cm.
- The following furniture is permanently fixed: seating which is fixed to tables.
- There is no step-free level access around the area.
- The surface in the picnic area is not smooth and even.
- Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to grass and compacted earth.
Standard Toilet
- Access into the toilet is via steps.
- There are 4 steps, which are unmarked, with a handrail on the right going up.
- The door is manual, permanently held open and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the door opening is 64cm.
- Internally the door has a low colour contrast.
- The male and female standard toilets were surveyed.
- The width of the widest cubicle door opening is 56cm.
- The wash basin tap type is push.
- Lighting levels are moderate to good.
- There are no hand dryers.
- The first 3 steps are unmarked, the last step is clearly marked.
There is a handrail on the left going up for the steps to access the female toilets.
