Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs, a running buggy and mountain trikes. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- You can borrow these from the Information Centre. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
- Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.
- All mobility equipment is available to borrow free of charge.
There is also a free shuttle bus that visitors can request to take them to the Conservatory Café or riverside.
The shuttle bus is wheelchair accessible.
There are securing clamps inside to secure wheelchairs.
The shuttle bus has a working hearing loop.
Route to (Garden Parterre)
- From the Information Centre, turn right and continue through the entrance grates to the Cliveden Estate grounds.
Follow the main road round until you reach the junction at the top and then follow the tarmac road.
At the junction turn right and make your way past Cliveden House and take the path on the right following the route to the Rose Garden.
As you pass the Rose Garden, continue along the path round to the left and down the slight to steep slope towards the Garden Parterre. - The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope and is step-free via a steep ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are tarmac, concrete, gravel and cobbles.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- View information about Cliveden - Conservatory Café (opens in new tab).
- This is the most accessible route to the Garden Parterre.
The visitor shuttle can take visitors to the top of the drive by the Conservatory Café and then they will have to make their own way to the Garden Parterre.
Outdoor Spaces (Garden Parterre)
- There is open access at the surveyed access point.
- There is stepped access from the South Terrace onto the Garden Parterre.
- The following outdoor facilities are available: formal gardens.
- The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: grass, gravel and compact earth.
- Footpaths are available in some of the outdoor space.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is step-free level access around some of the area.
- There are slight ramps/slopes without handrails and steep ramps/slopes without handrails in the main areas.
- There are not any bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
Route to (Duke's Garden)
- From the Information Centre, turn right and follow the main road until you reach the junction at the top and then follow the tarmac road.
At the junction, turn left towards the Conservatory Café and then right and follow the path along the Conservatory Café seating area.
After the seating area, turn right and then left towards Cliveden House and Duke's Garden is located immediately ahead. - The route to the area is step-free level.
- Path surfaces along the route are compact earth, tarmac, concrete, gravel and cobbles.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.

- This is the most accessible route to Duke's Garden.
The visitor shuttle can take visitors to the Conservatory Café, but they will have to make their own way to Duke's Garden from there.
Outdoor Spaces (Duke's Garden)
- This information is for the access point located to the rear of the Conservatory Café and to the left of Cliveden House.
- There is step-free level access into the area.
- The access points to the area are located from the rest of the grounds there is stepped access towards Duke's Garden.
- This is an open gap at the surveyed access point.
- The following outdoor facilities are available: formal gardens.
- The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: grass and gravel.
- Footpaths are available in all of the outdoor space.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is step-free level access around the area.
- There are not any bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
Route to (South Terrace)
- From the Information Centre, turn right and follow the main road until you reach the junction at the top and then follow the tarmac road.
At the junction, turn left towards the Conservatory Café and then right and follow the path along the Conservatory Café seating area.
After the seating area, turn right and then left towards Cliveden House and continue through Duke's Garden.
Access to the South Terrace is via Duke's Garden. - The route to the area is step-free level.
- Path surfaces along the route are tarmac, concrete, gravel and cobbles.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.

- This is the most accessible route to the South Terrace.
The visitor shuttle can take visitors to the Conservatory Café, but they will have to make their own way to the South Terrace from there.
Outdoor Spaces (South Terrace)
- This information is for the access point located within Duke's Garden.
- Access into the area is via a steep ramp/slope (which bypasses any steps).
- The slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
- The access points to the area are located at the rear of Duke's Garden, there is stepped access onto the South Terrace.
There is also stepped access onto the terrace from the Garden Parterre or steep ramp/sloped or stepped access from Cockerell Pavilion. - There is open access at the surveyed access point.
- The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: block paving.
- Footpaths are not available in all of the outdoor space.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is step-free level access around the area.
- There are more than 3 steps with handrails in the main areas.
- There are 20+ steps from the South Terrace leading down onto the Garden Parterre.
- There are some bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
Route to (Cockerell Pavilion)
- From the Information Centre, turn right and continue through the entrance grates to the Cliveden Estate grounds.
Follow the main road round until you reach the junction at the top.
At the junction turn right and make your way past Cliveden House and take the path on the right following the route to the Rose Garden.
As you pass the Rose Garden, continue along the path round to the left and up the steep slope towards the Cockerell Pavilion. - The route to the area is step-free via a steep ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are tarmac, concrete, gravel and cobbles.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.

- This is the most accessible route to the Cockerell Pavilion.

Outdoor Spaces (Cockerell Pavilion)
- This information is for the access point located to the right of Cliveden House.
- Access into the area is via steps and a slight ramp/slope (which bypasses any steps).
- The ramp is between 75cm and 150cm wide, with no handrails.
- There are 5 steps, which are unmarked, with no handrails.
- The access points to the area are located from the South Terrace, there is level access to the Cockerell Pavilion.
- There is a gate at the surveyed access point which is permanently held open.
- The width of the gap is 101cm.
- The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: concrete or tarmac.
- Footpaths are not available in all of the outdoor spaces.
- There is step-free level access around the area.
- There are not any bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
- There are tiles within the pavilion which may be slippery when wet.
