Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- Equipment cannot be borrowed or hired.
- Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.
Route to (the Deer Park)
- Turn left out of the main car park and follow the slope upwards for approximately 70 metres.
Pass Newton House on the left and go through a gate.
You will eventually reach a fork in the path, follow this around to the left and approximately 15 metres ahead will be the gate to enter the Deer Park. - The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope and is step-free via a steep ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are tarmac and gravel.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
Outdoor Spaces
- This information is for the access point located past Newton House, up the track and on the left.
- Access into the area is via a steep ramp/slope.
- The slope is over 150cm wide.
- There is a gate at the surveyed access point which opens towards you (pull).
- The gate is self-closing.
- The width of the gap is 110cm.
- The following outdoor facilities are available: parkland, woodland and open countryside.
- The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: grass, gravel and compact earth.
- Footpaths are available in all of the outdoor space.
- The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no step-free level access around the area.
- There are slight ramps/slopes without handrails and steep ramps/slopes without handrails in the main areas.
- There are slight and steep slopes throughout the area.
- There are bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
Hikes and Trails (Dinefwr Park Wildlife Walk)
- The trail is approximately 3 miles long.
- The trail is a circular route and takes approximately an hour to complete.
The Deer Park is closed from November to March.
Starting at the car park you follow the long slope past Newton House before following the fork in the path off to the left.
You will pass through multiple gates and follow a mud and gravel path into the Deer Park.
From the Deer Park access gate the route goes through the woodland and parkland.
The route has uneven surfaces and very steep slopes to overcome.
Towards the end of the route the path turns to grass.
You will finish the route passing the mill pond along the boardwalk and then back up the steep sloped pathway to the car park. - The trail is not open 24 hours.
- None of the paths are lit at night.
- The route includes the following surfaces: tarmac, grass, compacted gravel, wood and mud.
- Some of the route contains steep gradients and very uneven surfaces.
- These are found in the following areas: throughout the trail.
- There are no alternative routes to avoid these areas.
- The route is clearly signposted.
- Seating is available on the route.
- There are standard and accessible toilet facilities along the route.
- Standard and accessible facilities can be found at the start/end of the walk in the welcome hut.
