Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders, fidget toys, magnifying glass, torch and accessible maps.
- You can borrow these from visitor reception. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
- Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.
Route to (the Estate)
- Proceed past visitor reception and along the main pathway.
Turn right through the open gate onto the gravel path that will take you to the house.
As the house comes into view, walk around the path to the far side.
Once on the far side, the access point to the parkland will be in view. - The route to the area is step-free via a very steep ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are compact earth, gravel and muddy.
- The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is a shuttle which can take visitors to this area, but wheelchair users will need to transfer into it.
- A folded wheelchair can be carried on the shuttle if the visitor can transfer from the wheelchair to a seat.
Outdoor Spaces
- This information is for the access point located on the northern side of the house.
- There is step-free level access into the area.
- There is open access at the surveyed access point.
- The following outdoor facilities are available: parkland and woodland.
- The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: grass, gravel and uncompacted earth.
- Footpaths are available in some of the outdoor space.
- The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is step-free level access around some of the area.
- There are steep ramps/slopes with handrails, less than 3 steps without handrails and slight ramps/slopes without handrails in the main areas .
- The slopes occur at various points along the pathways.
The bridge has steps at it's access points and a steep gradient. - There are bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
- The paths have gates which may create obstacles for some users.
Hikes and Trails (Sir Felix's Gentle Path)
- The trail is approximately 1.5 miles long.
- The route begins on the northern side of the house from an open marked space.
The trail is circular in nature.
Most pathways are in open ground on grass. The pathways may be very muddy.
There are gates and bridges along the way. - The hike is not open 24 hours.
- None of the paths are lit at night.
- The route includes the following surfaces: grass and compacted gravel.
- Some of the route contains steep gradients and very uneven surfaces.
- These are found in the following areas: at various points along the route.
- There are no alternative routes to avoid these areas.
- The route is clearly signposted.
- The route has online maps.
- Seating is available on the route.
- There are no toilet facilities along the route.
