Visitor Reception

  • Access into the area is via slight ramps/slopes.
  • The slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
  • The door is automatic, opens by sliding and has a low colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the door opening is 124cm.
  • Internally the door has a low colour contrast.
  • There is a small lip on the threshold of the doorway with a height of less than 1.5cm.
  • There is step-free level access around the area.
  • There is room for wheelchair users to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm) throughout the area.

  • There are bollards on the approach to the Courtyard with a maximum separation of 93cm.
  • Path surfaces along the route are tarmac.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Entrance (Accessible Toilet Block for Accessible Toilets)

  • The entrance surveyed is located off the Laundry Courtyard, on the near end of the accessible toilet block next to the gift shop.
  • There is step-free access via slope at the entrance.
  • The slight slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
  • There is a single automatic door which opens towards you.
  • The door is activated by a push pad at a suitable height for seated users (between 75cm - 100cm).
  • The width of the opening is 107cm.
  • There is a small lip on the threshold of the entrance with a height of less than 1.5cm.
  • To exit, the door is activated by a push pad at a suitable height for seated users.

Changing Places (Transfer Both Sides)

    • The facility is additional to standard and accessible toilets, and is located close to other managed facilities.

    • The door is manual, opens inwards and has a medium colour contrast with the surrounding walls.

    • The door has a lever twist lock.
    • Internally the door has a medium colour contrast.

    • The wash basin tap type is lever mixer.
    • The towel dispenser is 87cm from the floor.
    • The hand dryer is 87cm from the floor.
    • The facility has: a full length mirror, a waste bin without lid, a nappy/incontinence items bin, a sanitary bin and a privacy screen.
    • There is a shelf located where it is reachable for seated and standing users.

    • The coat hooks are 105cm and 140cm from the floor.

    • There is a visual fire alarm beacon within the toilet.
    • Lighting levels are bright.
    • The soap dispenser height is controlled in tandem with the height adjustable wash basin.

Toilet with Adaptations (Right Hand Transfer)

  • This toilet is located straight ahead at the end of the short corridor after the entrance to the accessible toilet block.
  • There is step-free level access into the toilet.
  • This toilet is approximately 3m from the entrance to the toilet block.
  • There is pictorial signage on or near the door.
  • The door is manual, opens outwards and has a medium colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the toilet door opening is 95cm.
  • The door has a lever twist lock.
  • Internally the door has a medium colour contrast.
  • There is a small lip on the threshold of the doorway with a height of less than 1.5cm.
  • The dimensions of the cubicle are 167cm x 204cm and it has a turning space of at least 150cm x 150cm.
  • There is a lateral transfer space to the right of the seat but it is obstructed.
  • The lateral transfer space is 116cm from the side of the toilet pan to the wall.
  • There is a spatula flush on the transfer side.
  • The following grab rails are available: a horizontal grab rail on the door, a horizontal grab rail on the non transfer side, a vertical grab rail on the transfer side and vertical grab rails on both sides of the wash basin.

Parent and Baby Room / Baby Feeding Room (Accessible Toilet Block)

  • There is step-free level access into the room.
  • The door is manual, opens inwards and has a low colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the door opening is 69cm.

  • There is a seat at a suitable height for a wheelchair user to transfer.
  • The surface height of the table is 46cm.
  • There is room for wheelchair users to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm) throughout the room.
  • All flooring in the area is smooth and even.
  • The majority of the flooring includes large repeating patterns in bold colours, which may look like steps or holes to some people.
