Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders, fidget toys and magnifying glass.
- You can borrow these from visitor reception. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
- Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.
Route to (Stablecroft Meadows)
- From reception, turn left after the exit and follow the path to the end.
At the end of this path turn right down the uneven track.
The entrance to Stablecroft Meadows is located straight ahead. - The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are gravel.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
Outdoor Spaces
- Access into the area is via a slight ramp/slope.
- The slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
- There is a gate at the surveyed access point which is permanently held open.
- The following outdoor facilities are available: a playground with play equipment, woodland and gardens.
- The outdoor facilities also include: a treehouse, picnic area and a pond which is accessed via a 150cm wide bridge.
- The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: concrete or tarmac, loose chippings, wood bark and loose stones.
- Footpaths are available in some of the outdoor space.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is step-free level access around some of the area.
- There are slight ramps/slopes without handrails in the main areas.
- There are bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.

- There is a route around the play equipment which is not firm and even, but is over 150cm wide.
- The following play experiences are available: climbing.
Picnic Area
- The following information describes the picnic area located throughout the Stablecroft Meadows.
- Access into the area is via a slight ramp/slope.
- The ramp is over 150cm wide.
- There are picnic tables.
- No chairs have armrests on both sides.
- Adapted picnic tables are available.
- The distance between the floor and the underside of the lowest picnic table is 70cm.
- The distance between the floor and the underside of the highest picnic table is 76cm.
- There is no step-free level access around the area.
- Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to compacted earth and grass.
