Equipment and Resources to Borrow

  • You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
  • Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders, fidget toys, sunglasses and soft toy.
  • You can borrow these from visitor reception. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
  • Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.

Route to (the Playground)

  • After exiting visitor reception, go straight ahead and follow the path until you reach the playground.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are gravel and paving stones.
  • The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Outdoor Spaces

  • This information is for the access point located in the wooded area to the right of the path that takes you to the house.
  • There is step-free level access into the area.
  • There is open access at the surveyed access point.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: wood bark, compact earth, uncompacted earth and loose stones.
  • Footpaths are available in some of the outdoor space.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is step-free level access around the area.
  • There are not any bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
  • Playground View
    • There is a route around the play equipment which is firm and even, and is at least 150cm wide.
    • The play equipment is not in easy reach for a range of users.
    • The following play experiences are available: sliding, climbing, balancing, crawling and viewing.

Picnic Area

  • The following information describes the picnic area located in the playground.
  • There is step-free level access into the area.
  • There are picnic tables.
  • No chairs have armrests on both sides.
  • Adapted picnic tables are available.
  • The distance between the floor and the underside of the lowest picnic table is 67cm.
  • The distance between the floor and the underside of the highest picnic table is 67cm.
  • The standard height for the underside of picnic tables is 72cm.
  • The following furniture is permanently fixed: all of the chairs and all of the tables.
  • There is step-free level access around the area.
  • The surface in the picnic area is not smooth and even.
  • Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to loose chippings.
