Overview

Getting Inside

  • There is a level approach to the buildings main entrance.
    Surfaces leading to the entrances to the Joseph Rotblat and the Old Anatomy Buildings which form part of the step-free route into Dean Rees House have uneven surfaces on approach. .
  • Dean Rees House has three entrances into the building.
    There is a step-free access into Dean Rees House via two manual single doors when entering from the first floor of the Old Anatomy Building. These doors require a key card to open.
    There is an entrance into the ground floor from the Joseph Rotblat building which leads into the bottom of the stairwell of Dean Rees House and accesses none of the Dean Rees House facilities step-free.
    There is also an external main stepped entrance at the front of the building which accesses the same ground floor area.
  • The accessible entrance from Old Anatomy on the first floor is not signed.
    The main entrance at the front of the building is signed.
    The entrance from Joseph Roblatt Building has no signage indicating you are about to enter Dean Rees House.

Getting Around

  • There is no step-free access to the ground floor of the building.
    Access to the first floor is step-free via the Joseph Roblatt Building and the Old Anatomy building.
  • The floor surfaces in the circulation routes are carpeted with patterned carpets, including the carpet on the stairs.
  • There are no resting areas in the corridors.
  • There is no wayfinding signage.

  • A push button must be pressed in order to open the first entrance door, the push button is at a height of 116cm.

  • The width of the opening is 77cm.
  • The door has a high visual contrast.
  • There is a second single manual door.
  • The second door opens towards you.
  • The width of the opening is 77cm.
  • The second door has a low visual contrast.

Entrance (Main Entrance)

  • This entrance is located at the front of the building.
  • The entrance area is clearly signed.
  • There is not a canopy or recess which provides weather protection at the entrance.
  • There is stepped access at the entrance.
