Overview

Toilet and Changing Facilities

  • Toilet Facilities View
    • There is 1 toilet with adaptations.
    • The toilet with adaptations is located to the rear of the cathedral, along the corridor to the rear of the 1554 Coffee Shop.

    • The male and female step-free standard toilet facilities are located to the rear of the cathedral, along the corridor to the rear of the 1554 Coffee Shop.
  • Changing Places and Changing Facilities View
    • Parent and baby changing facilities are located within the toilet with adaptations to the rear of the cathedral.

Parking

  • Drop-off Point View
    • There is not a designated drop-off point available.
  • On-street Parking View
    • On-street designated Blue Badge parking and standard parking is available.
    • The on-street designated Blue Badge parking bays are located St. James' Street.
    • The Blue Badge bays are clearly marked.
  • Public Car Parks View
    • There is a public car park located along Campo Lane.
    • The name of the car park is NCP Sheffield Campo Lane.
    • Designated Blue Badge parking bays are available in the car park.

Entrance (Main Entrance)

  • This entrance is located at the front of the building.
  • The entrance area is not clearly signed.
  • There is not a canopy or recess which provides weather protection at the entrance.
  • There is step-free access via slope at the entrance.
  • The slope has a slight gradient.
  • There are double manual doors at this entrance.
  • The doors open towards you.
  • There is a push pad at a height of 89cm.
  • The width of the opening is 168cm.
  • The doors have a medium visual contrast.
  • There is a push pad or push button to exit at a height of 94cm.
  • There is a second set of double manual doors.
  • The second set of doors are permanently held open.

Reception

  • The reception is located to the left as you enter the main entrance.

Getting Around

  • There is step-free level access throughout the majority of areas, this may include the use of a lift.

Eating and Drinking (1554 Coffee Shop)

    • The 1554 Coffee Shop is located to the rear of the cathedral, ahead as you enter the main entrance.
    • The most accessible route has step-free level access.
    • There is step-free access via slope into this area.
    • The slope has a slight gradient.
    • There are double manual doors with a high visual contrast.
    • The doors are permanently held open.
    • The width of the opening is 172cm.
  • Service View
    • This area has a counter where food and drink can be ordered, staff who can provide assistance with ordering and designated seating.
    • Full table service is available on request only.
    • Menus are handheld, wall-mounted and displayed on the counter.
    • The following dietary requirements can be catered for: gluten free, dairy free, lactose free, nut allergy, vegetarian and vegan.
    • The following are available: drinking straws, takeaway cups and takeaway cutlery.
    • There is not a hearing assistance system.
  • Order and Payment View
    • The payment counter was surveyed.
    • The counter is located to the left as you enter the 1554 Coffee Shop.
    • There is step-free level access to the counter.
    • The height of the counter is 97cm.

    • The counter has glazed screens and patterned/distracting backgrounds.
  • Seating Area View
    • There is step-free level access throughout the seating area.

  • There are double automatic doors at this entrance.
  • The doors are permanently held open.
  • The width of the opening is 150cm.
  • There is a small lip on the threshold of the opening.
  • The doors have a high visual contrast.
  • There is step-free level access as you enter.
  • There is an alternative entrance to the gift shop from inside the cathedral via 4 steps.

Shop (Gift Shop)

    • The majority of main aisle widths are between 150cm - 180cm.
    • Some aisles are obstructed by product displays.

    • The most accessible route to the toilet has a slight ramp or slope and manual doors.
    • There is step-free level access into the facility.
    • A RADAR key can be provided at the 1554 Coffee Shop counter.
    • There is pictorial and written text signage on or near the door.
    • The door opens outwards and has a high visual contrast.
    • The door requires effort to open.
