- The Queen's Medical Research Institute Building is a very large building with 5 levels.

Getting Inside
- There is an uneven pavement in front of the building.
- The Queen's Medical Research Institute has 2 entrances both of which consist of 2 sets of automatic doors accessed via a slight slope.
- The main entrance is signed as Queen's Medical Research Institute QMRI.
The Edinburgh Imaging Facility QMRI entrance is signed as Edinburgh Imaging Facility QMRI. - The main entrance leads directly to the main reception for the building on level 1.
- The Edinburgh Imaging Facility QMRI is located towards the left of the main entrance and also accesses level 1.
Getting Around
- There is step-free level access throughout levels 1, 2, and 4 of the building.
- There are steep slopes in the east wing of the building on level 0 which bypass a set of 5 steps with handrails on either side.
- Access to level 4 is only via the rear central staircase and rear central lift.
- There majority of circulation routes are hard and smooth with a shiny finish.
- There is a resting area in the reception foyer.
There are not seating areas located in the corridors. - There is wayfinding signage located throughout the building.
A few areas of the building also have maps. - There are manual heavy doors throughout the majority of the circulation routes.
A swipe card is needed to access large parts of the building.
A wheelchair is available to borrow in the building.
