Overview

Getting Inside

  • The approach to the building is step-free via slight slopes.
  • There is a slight slope on Middle Meadow Walk when approaching from Lauriston Place, and a very slight slope when approaching from The Meadows.
  • Edinburgh Futures Institute has four external entrances. The east entrance on Middle Meadow Walk provides step-free ramped access to level 1.
    The north entrance on Lauriston Place provides step-free ramped access to level 2.
    The south entrance on Porter’s Walk and west entrance on Nightingale Way provide step-free level access to level 0 but are EFI swipe card access entry only.
    There are automatic doors at all entrances.

  • The north and south entrances are signed with the building name.
    The east and west entrances are not signed.
  • The east entrance off Middle Meadow Walk provides step-free level access to Level 1 and lift 005 adjacent to the Canopy Kitchen & Courtyard.

  • Edinburgh Futures Institute can also be accessed via the Canopy Kitchen and Courtyard off Middle Meadow Walk which has its own entrance with step-free level access and an automatic door.

Getting Around

  • There is step-free access throughout the building on all levels.
  • There are slopes along the main corridor on levels 0 and 1, and along the corridors leading to F wing and E wing.
    There are slopes along the main corridor on level 4.
    There are small ramps at the doorways on the corridor doors on levels 1, 2 and 3.
  • There is ramped/stepped access on level 1 to Room NW1.55.
    There are three steps to access NW1.55 on level 1 from the toilet area in B wing.

Entrance (Main Entrance - Lauriston Place)

  • This entrance is located at the front of the building, off Lauriston Place.

Reception
