Overview

Getting Inside

  • The approach to the building is level access with uneven surfaces.
  • Mackenzie Medical Centre has 3 entrances.
    Each entrance provides step-free via ramped access to the ground floor. The Mackenzie Medical Centre entrance has automatic doors, and the other entrances have manual doors.
  • The entrance are either signed as Mackenzie Medical Centre or do not have any signage.
  • The Mackenzie Medical Centre entrance provides step-free via a slight ramp to the left side of the building and the Mackenzie Medical Centre reception foyer.
  • The nurses entrance provides step-free via a steep ramp to the right side of the building and the nurse reception foyer.
    The central entrance is located along West Richmond Street, in between the Mackenzie Medical Centre entrance and the nurses entrance.
    This entrance provides step-free via a steep slope to the main corridor on the ground floor of building.

Getting Around

  • There is stepped access on both the ground floor and first floor of the building.
  • On the ground floor there are 2 steps along the corridor that leads from the left side of the building to the right side of the building.
  • On the left side of the building on the first floor there are steps that lead to offices and steps to access the seminar room.
  • Access to the first floor on both the left side and right side of the building is only via stairs, as there is no lift.
  • Floor surfaces are hard, smooth with some having a shiny finish or carpeted.
  • There are some resting areas along circulation corridor within the building.
  • Overhead signage is limited within the building.
  • There are manual and permanently held open doors along circulations routes throughout the building.
    The are automatic doors on the route to the toilets at the rear of reception.

Entrance (Mackenzie Medical Centre Entrance)

  • This entrance is located on the left side of the building, along West Richmond Street.
  • The approach to the entrance has uneven surfaces.
  • The entrance area is clearly signed.
  • There is a canopy or recess which provides weather protection at the entrance.
  • There is step-free access via ramp at the entrance.
  • The ramp has a slight gradient.
  • The ramp is between 75cm and 150cm wide with handrails on both sides.
  • The ramp bypasses the steps.

  • The handrails are easy to grip.
