Overview

Getting Inside

  • The approach to the building is step-free via very easy slopes.
  • New College School of Divinity has 2 main entrances and an accessible platform lift to the left of the New College School of Divinity main entrance.
  • The entrances are named School of Divinity.
  • The New College School of Divinity main entrance platform lift gives step - free access to the main reception on the ground floor.
    The main entrance is not step-free but is accessed via 6 steps.
  • The New College Courtyard entrance is located on Mount Place and gives step-free access to the New College Courtyard and leads to the School of Divinity on the right.

Getting Around

  • There is step-free level access on floors G, 1 and 2.
  • On floor 2 at the front right there is stepped access to level 3 and Tower Room academic offices.
    On floor 1 at the rear left there is stepped access to the rear of floor 2, floor 3 and the Ramsay Lane Wing, Post Graduate rooms, New College servitor and the Student Support Meeting Room.
  • Access to Rainy Hall and Rainy Hall Café on floor 1 is via 6 unmarked steps with a handrail on the right. Alternatively there is a platform lift to overcome the steps. Staff assistance is required to use the platform lift.
    Access to the Mezzanine level on floor 1 is via the mezzanine level staircase.
    Access to the Elizabeth Templeton Lecture Room on floor 2 is via 5 clearly marked steps with a handrail on both sides going up. Alternatively there is a platform lift to overcome the steps. Staff assistance is not required to use the platform lift.
  • Floor surfaces along all circulation routes are hard and smooth with some having a shiny finish and some having a patterned finish.
  • There are resting areas in some circulation and lobby areas with a mixture of seating.
  • Overhead and wall mounted wayfinding signage is provided throughout the building.
