- This area has a counter where food and drink can be ordered, buffet counters, a self service counter, staff who can provide assistance with ordering and numerous seating options.
- Full table service is available on request only.
- Menus are wall-mounted, available on a board, digital, online and displayed on the counter.
- The following dietary requirements can be catered for: gluten free, dairy free, lactose free, nut allergy, vegetarian and vegan.
- The following are available: drinking straws, takeaway cups and takeaway cutlery.
- There is not a hearing assistance system.

- The counter is located at the far end of the café as you enter the building through the main entrance.

- Seating available in this area includes: chairs with armrests, chairs without armrests, benches, stools and high stools.
- Furniture available in this area includes: tables, coffee tables, high tables and long tables.
- Some chairs and tables are fixed.
- The surface height of some of the tables is suitable for wheelchair users.
- The clear height under some of the tables is suitable for wheelchair users.
- There is background noise in this area which varies depending on the time of day.
- Lighting levels were even at the time of the survey.
- The counter surveyed was the main hot food counter and salad bar.
There is a separate payment counter for this, with a height of 91cm and a lowered section at a height of 75cm.
These counters double as tray rails.
Separately, there is a coffee shop counter serving drinks and light snacks only, with a surface height of 102cm, and a lowered section with a surface height of 74cm. There is no tray rail at this counter.
Finally, there is a counter with microwave ovens, where staff and students can heat up their own food. This is also at a height of 102cm.
