Getting Inside
- There are slight slopes on approach to the building from both the Holyrood Campus courtyard and Holyrood Road.
- There are slight slopes from the Holyrood Street to access the courtyard towards the rear of the building.
- Paterson's land has 3 main entrances and a stepped link into Thomson's Land.
The main entrance is accessed by a slight ramp and automatic doors. Beyond the entrance there are a set of steps which can be overcome by the main lift.
There is an entrance leading into the lower ground floor consisting of 2 sets of automatic doors which are accessed via a slight slope which bypasses steps. This entrance enters into the lower ground floor of the building. - Signage to the rear courtyard off Holyrood Street is signed as Holyrood Campus, Paterson's Land.
The ramped or stepped entrance off the rear courtyard is signed as Paterson's Land .
Stepped access from the ground floor of Thomson's Land is signed as Paterson's Land. - The main entrance provides ramped access to the automatic door into the ground floor via a platform lift.
- The is a ramped or stepped entrance off the rear that leads into the lower ground floor.
There stepped entrance off the rear courtyard into the lower ground floor.
There is a stepped entrance leading from the ground floor of Thomson's Land to the lower ground floor of Paterson's Land.
Getting Around
- There is step-free access to the majority of the building.
- There is a steep slope of the left wing staircase between the ground and lower ground floors. This staircase can be bypassed by the left wing lift.
- There are 4 stairs to access standard toilets and showers on the basement floor.
There are 6 steps to access room LG34 - LG49 on the lower ground floor, these steps can be bypassed by a platform lift. - There is no step-free access to the mezzanine floor. Access to the different parts of the mezzanine floor is via each of the different staircases.
- Floor surfaces along the circulation routes are a mixture of carpeted and hard and smooth surfaces that may appear shiny.
- There are resting areas in some of the circulation routes, lobby areas and corridors with a mixture of seating.
- Overhead and wall mounted signage is provided throughout the building.
