Getting Inside
- The approach to the building is via steep slopes to the side and rear and by steps to the front.
- There is step-free access to the ground or first floor of the Fleeming Jenkin building through the Faraday building main entrance, via ramp to the ground floor and lift and ramps to the first floor.
- The Fleeming Jenkin Building has four external entrances, and three internal link entrances.
One external entrance to the right end, and another to the rear left of the building has step-free level access, but steep slopes on approach.
The main entrance to the front has five steps internally.
The other rear entrance is closed off.
There is an internal link entrance on the ground floor providing step-free access via a steep ramp (ground floor accessible entrance) from the Faraday Building.
There is an internal link entrance on the first floor providing step-free access via a lift and slight ramps (first floor accessible entrance) from the Faraday Building, via the Alrick Building.
There is an internal link entrance on the ground floor providing step-free access from the Alrick Building. However, the route has restricted access. - The entrances are signed with building names.

Getting Around
- There are no lifts to overcome steps once inside the building.
There is step only access to the basement.
To access the first floor the lift in the Faraday Building may be used, and a bridge link with a slight ramp. - On the basement floor there are steps to access the male standard toilets.
The centre rear corridor width on the ground floor is restricted by furniture.
There is a narrow corridor to access the toilet with adaptations and female toilet facilities on the ground floor.
There is a slight ramp on the first floor in the corridor to the link entrance from the Faraday and Alrick Buildings, with a handrail on the right going up. - There is internal access between the Fleeming Jenkin Building and the Alrick Building on both ground and first floors. Access to the Alrick Building on the ground floor is restricted.

- Floor surfaces throughout the building are hard and smooth and most have a shiny finish.
