Overview

Getting Inside

  • The approach to the building is step-free level access.
  • Joseph Black Building has one main entrance with step-free access via a slight slope. There are double manual doors at this entrance.
  • The entrance is signed Chemistry.
  • The entrance gives access to the lifts on the ground floor, which provides step-free level access to all other floors.

Getting Around

  • It is possible to bypass most steps once inside the building.
  • On the first floor there is are a series of slight and steep ramps at the rear of the building, to access the some staff offices and labs.
  • There is internal access between Joseph Black Building and Christina Miller Building, via a link corridor on the ground and first floor.
  • Floor surfaces along all circulation routes are hard and smooth, with some having a shiny finish.
  • There are resting areas in some circulation routes which comprise of chairs with no armrests.
  • Wayfinding signage is provided in some circulation routes to assist people in finding their way around.
