Access To
- Rushbrook Fire Laboratory is located on the stairwell between the ground and the first floor of the John Muir Building.

- The most accessible route has steps, manual doors and shiny flooring.
- There is written text signage on or near the entrance.
- There is step-free level access into the Rushbrook Fire Laboratory from the corridor.
- There is a single manual door which opens towards you.
- The width of the opening is 83cm.
- The door has a high visual contrast.
- There is a second single manual door which opens towards you.
- The door has an open extension leaf.
- The width of the opening is 135cm.
- The second door has a high visual contrast.
Teaching
- This is a lab.
- There is not step-free level access within the room.
- The following areas have stepped access: there is a small step into raised area in the room.
There is a single 20cm step leading to the store room. The store room is not generally used by students. - There is not room for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm).
- There is not a hearing assistance system.
- Floor coverings are not even and could potentially cause a trip hazard.
- The walls and floor have a high visual contrast.
- Lighting levels were even at the time of the survey.
- There are no designated spaces for wheelchair users.
- There is not space for an assistance dog to rest.
- Furniture available in the room includes: tables, high tables and desks.
- Some tables are fixed.
- The surface heights are not suitable for wheelchair users.
- The clear underside space of the surfaces is not suitable for wheelchair users.
- Equipment in the laboratory may serve as a trip hazard.
