  • Location and Service View
    • The Alan Gilbert Café is on the ground floor of the Alan Gilbert Learning Common ahead from the main entrance.
    • This area has designated seating, staff who can provide assistance with ordering and a counter where food and drink can be ordered.
    • Menus are available on a board.
    • The following dietary requirements can be catered for: gluten free, dairy free, lactose free, nut allergy, vegetarian and vegan.
    • The following are available: drinking straws, takeaway cups and takeaway cutlery.
    • There is not a hearing assistance system.
    • There is a standalone touch screen payment facility for cold food and drink.
      The highest touch screen button is 146cm.
      The lowest area is at a height of 107cm on the payment pad.

    • The payment counter was surveyed.
    • The counter is located to the right and ahead from the accessible entrance.
    • There is step-free level access to the counter.
    • The height of the counter is 95cm.
    • There is a lowered section at the counter.
    • The height of the lowered section is 76cm.
  • Seating Area View
    • There is step-free level access throughout the seating area.
    • There is room for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm).
    • There is space for an assistance dog to rest.
    • Some flooring is shiny.
    • The walls and floor have a high visual contrast.
    • Seating available in this area includes: chairs with armrests, chairs without armrests and high stools.
    • Furniture available in this area includes: tables, coffee tables and high tables.
    • Some tables are fixed.
    • The surface height of some of the tables is suitable for wheelchair users.
    • The clear height under some of the tables is suitable for wheelchair users.
    • There is no (or very little) background noise in this area.
    • At the time of survey (June 2024) the three doors to the front of the building from the café were not in use.
