Accommodation Overview

Getting Inside

  • The paths leading to all accommodation buildings are step-free with some slight gradients.
  • All accommodation buildings have a main entrance with manual doors and a sloped approach.
  • The entrances do not have signage other than the building name.
  • The Allworthy entrance provides step-free level access to the ground floor of the Allworthy building.
  • The Burgess entrance provides step-free level access to the ground floor of the Burgess building.

Getting Around

  • There is step-free access throughout the buildings on the ground floor, with stepped access to the first and second floors.
  • Floor surfaces along all circulation routes within the Canterbury Court buildings vary between vinyl and carpeted. All flooring is smooth.
    Some flooring in the accommodation buildings has a shiny finish.
  • Wayfinding signage is very limited in the buildings.
  • There are manual doors in circulation corridors, with manual doors to access the stairwells.

Stairs (Allworthy)

  • The stairs surveyed are located directly ahead as you enter the Allworthy Entrance.
  • Floors G, 1, 2 can be accessed by these stairs.
  • There are 15 steps between floors.
  • The steps are clearly marked and have handrails on both sides.
  • The handrails are easy to grip.
  • The handrail covers the flight of stairs throughout its length.
  • The handrails do not extend horizontally beyond the first and last step.
