Access To (Whitworth Hall)
- Whitworth Hall is located on the first floor of the Whitworth Building.
- Whitworth Hall is accessed via the lift in Christie Building.

- The most accessible route has a lift, slight ramps or slopes, manual doors, narrow openings, shiny flooring and patterned flooring.
- The ramp has a slight gradient.
- The ramp is over 150cm wide with a handrail on the left going up.
- There is written text signage on or near the entrance.
- There is step-free level access to enter Whitworth Hall.
- There are double manual doors which are permanently held open.
- The width of the opening is 132cm.
- The doors have a high visual contrast.
Lift
- The lift surveyed is located at the front of the hall.
- This lift is a platform lift.
- The most accessible route to the lift has step-free level access.
- The hall and stage area are accessed by this lift.
- The lift has a level manoeuvring space in front of it for a wheelchair user (150cm x 150cm).
- The lift door opening width is 76cm.
- The internal dimensions of the lift are 83cm (width) x 145cm (depth).
- The internal lift control buttons have a high visual contrast.
- None of the internal lift controls are at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.
- The button needs to be pressed constantly when in use.
- Internally the lift has: a separate door to exit.
Teaching
- This is a meeting room.
- There is step-free level access throughout the majority of areas, this may include the use of a lift.
- The following areas have stepped access: the stages at the front and rear of the room.
