Access Guide
Resort Information
- The resort is located on the main coast road between Paphos Airport and Paphos Harbour.
- This resort has the following facilities: a toilet with some adaptations for disabled people, a spa, a playground, a sports court, a gym, a swimming pool, a splash park and a sauna. There may be additional charges for some of these facilities, for more information please contact TUI or the resort.
- The resort has 130 rooms available. None of these rooms have adaptations for disabled people.
- Standard rooms with adjoining rooms are available.
- The resort is on mostly flat land but has a number of ramps or steps to navigate throughout.
The resort has buggies which can be used to assist guests in getting around the resort.
All areas of the resort are step-free with ramps overcoming the steps. - There is 1 restaurant.
- There are 3 swimming pools (excluding room pools).
- Toilet and changing facilities available include: toilets with some adaptations for disabled people, step-free standard toilets and standard changing rooms.
- Toilet facilities with some adaptations for disabled people can be found in the basement of the Ionian Hotel.
- Standard toilet facilities can be found in the basement of the Ionian Hotel, next to the entertainment facility, next to the Playground and Splash Park, and in the Spa.
- Baby change facilities can be found in the standard toilets in the basement of the Ionian Hotel, next to the entertainment facility, next to the Playground and Splash Park, and in the Spa.
- There is no medication fridge.
- Guests cannot hire mobility equipment from the resort.
- Guests can hire mobility equipment locally.
- The resort has a list of local suppliers.
- Guests can use their own mobility scooter at the resort.
- Mobility scooters can be stored and charged in the Luggage Room.
- We have been told that assistance dogs are allowed in most areas of the Ionian Hotel and Fishing Village.
- Assistance dogs are able to stay with guests in rooms with adaptations for disabled people.
- Assistance dog spending areas are not available in the resort.
- Water bowls for assistance dogs are not available.
- Guests can bring food for assistance dogs which can be stored in the guest's room.
- This resort is aware of the Sunflower Lanyard Scheme.
- There is not a Safe/Quiet Place available in the resort.
- WiFi is available in the main building, at the reception and in the rooms.

Getting Around the Resort
- The resort is on mostly flat land but has a number of ramps or steps to navigate throughout.
The resort has buggies which can be used to assist guests in getting around the resort.
All areas of the resort are step-free with ramps overcoming the steps. - The paths around the resort are made from: stone and concrete.
- There is no seating along the pathways.
- Some of the paths are illuminated.
- There are club carts available for all guests, which are used to overcome the ramps/slopes and steps.
- Wheelchair users will need to transfer into the club carts.
Aliathon Plaza
- Aliathon Plaza is a strip of shops, restaurants, and cafes on the main road at the front of the resort.
- The plaza is on two levels and the upper level is accessed by steps or lift.
- The services on the lower level mostly have level access, with some accessed by steps or a steep ramp.
Entrance (Ionian Hotel)
- The entrance to the resort is located at the front of the Ionian Hotel building.
- There is step-free level access at the entrance to the resort.
- There are automatic doors at the entrance, which open by sliding.
- The width of the door opening is 127cm.
- The doors have a low colour contrast.
- There is a second set of automatic doors at the entrance, which open by sliding.
- The width of the door opening is 127cm.
- The doors have a low colour contrast.
Reception
- There is step-free level access to reception.
- The reception has glazed screens which may affect the ability of someone to lip read.
- Lighting levels are good at this reception.
- The reception desk is too high for a wheelchair user.
- The reception does not have a hearing assistance system.
- There is hard flooring.
- The flooring is shiny and patterned.
- There are chairs without armrests, tables and armchairs available in this reception area.
- There is space for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre in the seating area (150cm x 150cm).
- There is space for an assistance dog to rest in the reception area.
- There may be background noise.
Getting Around the Building (Main Hotel Building)
- This building contains restaurants, bars, a main reception and changing areas.
- The building has multiple floors which can be accessed via lift.
- The following areas have step-free level access: the restaurant on the ground floor, and all rooms and facilities on the basement and first floor upwards.
- The following areas have step-free access via steep or very steep ramps or slopes: the Swim Up Suites on the ground floor (2001 - 2018).
- The following areas do not have step-free access: the Swim Up Suites on the ground floor (2001 - 2018).
- There is hard flooring and low pile carpet.
- Some flooring is shiny.
- The majority of walkway widths are over 180cm, with medium colour contrast between the walls and floor.
- Lighting levels are low in some areas.
Lift
- The lift is located to the rear right of the lobby area.
- The floors that can be accessed from this lift are -1, G, 1, 2, 3, 4.
- This lift is a standard lift.
- Externally the lift has: a door with a high colour contrast to the surroundings, buttons with a high colour contrast to the surroundings, controls at a recommended height (between 90cm - 120cm) and tactile markings.
- The lift does have a recommended turning space (150cm x 150cm) in front of it.
- The dimensions of the lift are 125cm x 167cm.
- There are other lifts which are similar in size at the same location.
- Internally the lift has; buttons with a medium colour contrast to the surroundings, a visual floor indicator, controls at a recommended height (between 90cm - 120cm), tactile markings and a mirror to aid reversing.
- There are 2 identical lifts in the lobby, either side of the reception area.
Stairs
- The floors which are accessible by stairs are -1, G, 1, 2, 3, 4.
- There are 15+ steps between floors with resting points (landings).
- The stairs are not clearly marked and have handrails on both sides.
Changing Area (Basement)
- The facilities available within the changing area include; standard changing rooms/cubicles, standard showers and standard toilets.
- The female changing area was surveyed, and there are also male changing areas available.
- There is step-free level access into the area.
- The door is manual, opens inwards and has a high colour contrast.
- The width of the door opening is 73cm.
- There is hard flooring.
- The flooring is shiny.
- The seating in the changing area includes: bench seats.
- The changing area has: step-free standard showers.
- The showers have a handheld shower head.
- Toilet facilities include: a step-free standard toilet.
Toilet with Adaptations for Disabled People (Basement - Right Hand Transfer)
- There is step-free level access into the toilet.
- There is pictorial signage on or near the toilet door.
- The toilet door is manual, opens inwards and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the toilet door opening is 83cm.
- The toilet door has a twist lock.
- The dimensions of the cubicle are 189cm x 179cm and it does not have a 150cm x 150cm turning space.
- There is a lateral transfer space to the right of the toilet as you look at it, but it is obstructed.
- The lateral transfer space is 117cm (from the side of the toilet pan to the wall).
- There is a push button flush on the wall above the cistern.
- The following grab rails are available: a vertical grab rail on the non-transfer side and a horizontal grab rail on the non-transfer side.
- There is a dropdown rail on the non-transfer side.
- The following fixtures can be reached from the toilet seat: a toilet roll holder on the dropdown rail.
- The following fixtures cannot be reached from the toilet seat: the wash basin, the soap dispenser and towel dispenser.
- The following fixtures are not at the recommended height: the toilet seat (not at 48cm), the wash basin (not between 72cm - 74cm), the soap dispenser (not between 80cm - 100cm) and towel dispenser (not between 80cm - 100cm).
- The wash basin tap type is lever mixer.
- The following have a high colour contrast with their surroundings: the internal toilet door and all grab rails.
- The following have a less clear colour contrast with their surroundings: the floor and the toilet seat.
- There is a push button emergency alarm.
- The toilet has a mirror.
- There is no shelf in the toilet.
- The cubicle has a pedal bin.
- There is one coat hook.
- The coat hooks for standing users are at the recommended height.
- The coat hooks for seated users are not at the recommended height.
Toilet (Basement)
- The female toilet was surveyed.
- There is also a male toilet in the same location.
- There is step-free level access into the toilet.
- The toilet door is manual, opens inwards and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The wash basin tap type is sensor.
- There is a baby change facility which is not at a recommended height (75cm).
