Access Guide
Resort Information
- The resort is located in the centre of Playa de las Americas in south-west Tenerife.
- This resort has the following facilities: rooms with some adaptations for disabled people, a toilet with some adaptations for disabled people, shops and a gym. There may be additional charges for some of these facilities, for more information please contact TUI or the resort.
- The resort has 365 rooms available. 10 of these rooms have adaptations for disabled people
- Adjoining rooms are not available.
- There is step-free access throughout the majority of the resort grounds.
- There are 2 restaurants.
- There are 2 swimming pools (excluding room pools).
- There are shops.
- All shops have step-free access.
- None of the shops have door widths over 75cm.
- Some of the shops have room to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm).
- Toilet and changing facilities available include: step-free standard toilets and toilets with some adaptations for disabled people.
- Toilet facilities with some adaptations for disabled people can be found in the reception lobby, within the male and female standard toilets and also on level P-1 next to the shop and games room.
- Standard toilet facilities can be found in the reception lobby, on level -1 next to the shop and games room, next to the main pool and next to the poolside bar.
- Baby change facilities can be found in the standard male and female toilets in the reception lobby and in the standard male and female toilets on level -1 next to the shop and games room.
- The resort has the following available: bath mats.
- There is a medication fridge at the reception.
- Guests cannot hire mobility equipment from the resort.
- Guests can hire mobility equipment locally.
- The resort has a list of local suppliers.
- Guests can use their own mobility scooter at the resort.
- Mobility scooters can be stored and charged at the rear of the reception lobby.
- We have been told that assistance dogs are not allowed in the resort.
- This resort is not aware of the Sunflower Lanyard Scheme.
- There is not a Safe/Quiet Place available in the resort.
- WiFi is available throughout the resort.

Getting Around the Resort
- There is step-free access throughout the majority of the resort grounds.
- The paths around the resort are made from: tiles.
- There is a mixture of seating with and without armrests along the pathways.
- All the paths are illuminated.
Entrance
- The entrance to the resort is located at the front of the main building.
- There is step-free level access at the entrance to the resort.
- There are automatic doors at the entrance, which open by sliding.
- The width of the door opening is 150cm.
- The doors have a low colour contrast.
Getting Around the Building
- This building contains a main reception, bars, a shop, an indoor pool, a gym, changing areas and restaurants.
- The building has multiple floors which can be accessed via lift and stairs.
- The following areas have step-free level access: all facilities on P0 and P1, Rooms 01, 028 to 032 on P0, Rooms S-1,-2 and 3 on P-1 and all rooms on floors P1 to P6.
- The following areas have step-free access via steep or very steep ramps or slopes: rooms 002 to 027 on level P0, rooms S-4 to S-15 on level P-1, the spa and the gym.
- The following areas do not have step-free access: the rooms on floor P7 and the Platinum Terrace.
- There is hard flooring.
- Some flooring is shiny and patterned.
- The majority of walkway widths are between 120cm and 180cm, with high colour contrast between the walls and floor.
Reception
- There is step-free level access to reception.
- Lighting levels are good at this reception.
- The reception desk is too high for a wheelchair user.
- The reception does not have a hearing assistance system.
- There is hard flooring.
- The flooring is shiny.
- There are armchairs and sofas available in this reception area.
- There is space for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre in the seating area (150cm x 150cm).
- There is background noise which varies depending on the time of day.
Counter (TUI)
- There is step-free level access to the counter.
- The counter has patterned backgrounds which may affect the ability of someone to lip read.
- Lighting levels are good at this counter.
- There is a counter suitable for a wheelchair user.
- The counter does not have a hearing assistance system.
- There is hard flooring.
- Some flooring is shiny and patterned.
- There are armchairs available in the counter area.
- There is space for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre in the seating area (150cm x 150cm).
- There is background noise which varies depending on the time of day.
Toilet with Adaptations for Disabled People (in the Reception Lobby Within the Female Toilets - Right Hand Transfer)
- There is step-free level access into the toilet.
- There is pictorial signage on or near the toilet door.
- The toilet door is manual, opens inwards and has a low colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the toilet door opening is 76cm.
- The toilet door has a twist lock.
- The dimensions of the cubicle are 165cm x 180cm and it does not have a 150cm x 150cm turning space.
- There is a lateral transfer space to the right of the toilet as you look at it.
- The lateral transfer space is 107cm (from the side of the toilet pan to the wall).
- There is a push button flush in the centre of the cistern.
- There is a dropdown rail on the transfer side.
- The following fixtures can be reached from the toilet seat: the toilet roll holder and a toilet roll holder on the dropdown rail.
- The following fixtures are not at the recommended height: the toilet seat (not at 48cm).

Toilet with Adaptations for Disabled People (in the Reception Lobby Within the Male Toilets - Right Hand Transfer)

- The toilet door is manual, opens inwards and has a low colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the toilet door opening is 77cm.
- The toilet door has a twist lock.
- The dimensions of the cubicle are 160cm x 180cm and it does not have a 150cm x 150cm turning space.
- There is a lateral transfer space to the right of the toilet as you look at it.
- The lateral transfer space is 110cm (from the side of the toilet pan to the wall).
- There is a push button flush in the centre of the cistern.
- There is a dropdown rail on the transfer side.
- The following fixtures can be reached from the toilet seat: the toilet roll holder and a toilet roll holder on the dropdown rail.

- The width of the door into the toilet cubicle is not over 75cm.
- The wash basin tap type is sensor.
- There is a baby change facility which is not at a recommended height (75cm).
Lift (P0 to P-1)
- The lift is located opposite the reception desk.
- The floors that can be accessed from this lift are P0 to P-1.
- This lift is a standard lift.
- Externally the lift has: buttons with a low colour contrast to the surroundings, a door with a high colour contrast to the surroundings and controls at a recommended height (between 90cm - 120cm).
- The lift does have a recommended turning space (150cm x 150cm) in front of it.
- The lift door opening width is 120cm.
- The dimensions of the lift are 160cm x 180cm.
- Internally the lift has; tactile markings, controls at a recommended height (between 90cm - 120cm), a visual floor indicator, Braille markings, buttons with a low colour contrast to the surroundings and a separate door to exit.
Stairs (P0 to P-1)
- The floors which are accessible by stairs are P0 to P-1.
- There are 15+ steps between floors with resting points (landings).
- The stairs have handrails on both sides and are not clearly marked.
Lift (P-1 to P6)
- The lift is located in the reception lobby.
- The floors that can be accessed from this lift are P-1, P0, P1, P2, P3, P4, P5 and P6.
- This lift is a standard lift.
- Externally the lift has: a door with a high colour contrast to the surroundings and controls that are not at a recommended height (between 90cm - 120cm).
- The lift does have a recommended turning space (150cm x 150cm) in front of it.
- The lift door opening width is 77cm.
- The dimensions of the lift are 120cm x 160cm.
- There are other lifts which are similar in size at the same location.
- Internally the lift has; a visual floor indicator, Braille markings, tactile markings, controls at a recommended height (between 90cm - 120cm) and buttons with a low colour contrast to the surroundings.
Stairs (P-1 to P7)
- The floors which are accessible by stairs are P-1, P0, P1, P2, P3, P4, P5, P6 and P7.
- There are 15+ steps between floors with resting points (landings).
- The stairs have a handrail that switches sides.
Toilet with Adaptations for Disabled People (on Level P-1, Next to the Shops and Games Room Within the Female Toilets - Right Hand Transfer)
- There is step-free level access into the toilet.
- There is no signage on or near the toilet door.
- The toilet door is manual, opens outwards and has a low colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the toilet door opening is 77cm.
- The toilet door has a twist lock.
- The dimensions of the cubicle are 180cm x 150cm and it does not have a 150cm x 150cm turning space.
- There is a lateral transfer space to the right of the toilet as you look at it.
- The lateral transfer space is 72cm (from the side of the toilet pan to the wall).
- There is a push button flush in the centre of the cistern.
- There is a dropdown rail on the transfer side.
- The following fixtures cannot be reached from the toilet seat: the toilet roll holder.
- The following fixtures are not at the recommended height: the toilet seat (not at 48cm) and the toilet roll holder (not between 80cm - 100cm).

- The toilet door has a twist lock.
- The dimensions of the cubicle are 100cm x 150cm and it does not have a 150cm x 150cm turning space.
- There is not a lateral transfer space next to the toilet.
- There is a push button flush in the centre of the cistern.
- There is a dropdown rail on the transfer side.
- The following fixtures can be reached from the toilet seat: the toilet roll holder.
- The following fixtures are not at the recommended height: the toilet seat (not at 48cm) and the toilet roll holder (not between 80cm - 100cm).

- There is a baby change facility which is not at a recommended height (75cm).
Toilet (Next to the Poolside Bar)
- The male and female standard toilets were surveyed.
- There is step-free access into the toilet, via a ramp.
- The ramp is steep between 75cm and 150cm wide, with a handrail on the right going down.
- The toilet door is manual, opens inwards and has a medium colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the toilet door opening is 77cm.
- The width of the door into the toilet cubicle is over 75cm.
- The wash basin tap type is sensor.
Toilet (Next to the Pool)
- There is step-free level access into the toilet.
- These toilets were under refurbishment at the time of surveying in July 2023.
