Access Guide
Resort Information
- The resort is in the town of Maspalomas on the southern coast of Gran Canaria.
- This resort has the following facilities: rooms with some adaptations for disabled people, a spa, a playground, a sports court, a gym and a swimming pool. There may be additional charges for some of these facilities, for more information please contact TUI or the resort.
- The resort has 639 rooms available. 16 of these rooms have adaptations for disabled people.
- The resort is mostly located on level ground. However as you approach the swimming pools from the main building there are some slight slopes and one steep slope. As you approach the southern extent of the resort there are steep slopes and steps and a doorway out on to the promenade and the rocky coastline.
- There are 6 restaurants.
- There are 6 swimming pools (excluding room pools).
- Toilet and changing facilities available include: an accessible toilet, toilets with some adaptations for disabled people and standard toilets.
- Toilet facilities with some adaptations for disabled people can be found to the left of reception, next to the central outdoor pools, to the right of the Spa and Gym entrance and in the Atlantico Grill Restaurant.
- Standard toilet facilities can be found To the left of reception, next to the central outdoor pools, to the right of the Spa and Gym entrance, next to the Sunset Chillout Bar and in the Atlantico Grill Restaurant.
- Baby change facilities can be found to the left of reception in the toilet with adaptions for disabled people and next to the central outdoor pools in the toilet with adaptions for disabled people.
- There is a medication fridge at the reception.
- Guests cannot hire mobility equipment from the resort.
- Guests can hire mobility equipment locally.
- The resort has a list of local suppliers.
- Guests can use their own mobility scooter at the resort.
- Guests can store and charge their mobility scooters in reception.
- We have been told that assistance dogs are allowed in most areas of the resort.
- Assistance dogs are able to stay with guests in rooms with adaptations for disabled people.
- Assistance dog spending areas are not available in the resort.
- Water bowls for assistance dogs are available.
- Guests can bring food for assistance dogs which can be stored near reception.
- This resort is not aware of the Sunflower Lanyard Scheme.
- There is not a Safe/Quiet Place available in the resort.
- WiFi is available throughout the resort.

Entrance
- The entrance to the resort is located at the front of the resort building.
- There is step-free level access at the entrance to the resort.
- There are automatic doors at the entrance, which open by sliding.
- The width of the door opening is 186cm.
- The doors have a low colour contrast.
- A member of resort staff is available for assistance at this entrance.
Reception
- There is step-free level access to reception.
- Lighting levels are good at this reception.
- The reception desk is too high for a wheelchair user.
- The reception does not have a hearing assistance system.
- There is hard flooring and low pile carpet.
- The flooring is patterned.
- There are armchairs, sofas, bench seats and stools available in this reception area.
- There is space for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre in the seating area (150cm x 150cm).
- There is space for an assistance dog to rest in the reception area.
- There is background noise which varies depending on the time of day.
Getting Around the Building
- This building contains a main reception, bars and restaurants.
- The building has multiple floors which can be accessed via stairs and lift.
- The following areas have step-free level access: Main reception, hotel lobby, Bar Café, Kaori Asian Restaurant, Amore Mio Italian Restaurant, all accommodation in the main building.
- The following areas have step-free access via slight ramps or slopes: inside the male toilet near reception.
- There is hard flooring.
- Some flooring is shiny.
- The majority of walkway widths are over 180cm, with low colour contrast between the walls and floor.
Getting Around the Resort
- The resort is mostly located on level ground. However as you approach the swimming pools from the main buiding there are some slight slopes and one steep slope. As you approach the southern extent of the resort there are steep slopes and steps and a doorway out on to the promenade and the rocky coastline.
- The paths around the resort are made from: stone and block paving.
- There is no seating along the pathways.
- All the paths are illuminated.
Stairs (Main Staircase)
- The floors which are accessible by stairs are 0, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.
- There are 15+ steps between floors with resting points (landings).
- The stairs are not clearly marked and have handrails on both sides.
- The bottom 2 steps have clear markings. Other stairs are marked intermittently.
Stairs (Rooms 0001-3060)
- The floors which are accessible by stairs are -1, 0, 1, 2, 3.
- There are 15+ steps between floors with resting points (landings).
- The stairs are not clearly marked and have a handrail on the left going up.
- There are similar staircases elsewhere in the accommodation blocks serving rooms 0093-3155.
Stairs (Rooms 0001-1060)
- The floors which are accessible by stairs are 0, 1.
- There are 15+ steps between floors with resting points (landings).
- The stairs are not clearly marked and have handrails on both sides.
- There is a similar staircase at the other end of the terrace serving rooms 0093-1155.
Stairs (block containing rooms 8071-8288 to Terrace)
- There are 15+ steps between floors .
- The stairs are clearly marked and have handrails on both sides.
Lift (Main Lifts)
- The lift is located opposite main reception.
- The floors that can be accessed from this lift are 0, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.
- This lift is a standard lift.
- Externally the lift has: a door with a medium colour contrast to the surroundings, buttons with a high colour contrast to the surroundings, controls at a recommended height (between 90cm - 120cm), tactile markings and Braille markings.
- The lift does have a recommended turning space (150cm x 150cm) in front of it.
- The lift door opening width is 91cm.
- The dimensions of the lift are 133cm x 150cm.
- There are other lifts which are similar in size at the same location.
- Internally the lift has; a mirror to aid reversing, controls at a recommended height (between 90cm - 120cm), Braille markings, tactile markings, buttons with a high colour contrast to the surroundings and a visual floor indicator.
Lift (Rooms 0001-3060)
- The lift is located at the entrance to the block serving rooms 0001-3060.
- The floors that can be accessed from this lift are -1, 0, 1, 2, 3.
- This lift is a standard lift.
- Externally the lift has: a door with a low colour contrast to the surroundings and buttons with a low colour contrast to the surroundings.
- The lift does not have a recommended turning space (150cm x 150cm) in front of it.
- The lift door opening width is 80cm.
- The dimensions of the lift are 106cm x 140cm.
- Internally the lift has; tactile markings, buttons with a low colour contrast to the surroundings, a visual floor indicator and controls at a recommended height (between 90cm - 120cm).
- There is another lift in this block that serves the same rooms.

Toilet with Adaptations for Disabled People (Left of Main Reception - Transfer Both Sides)
- There is step-free level access into the toilet.
- There is pictorial and written text signage on or near the toilet door.
- The toilet door is manual, opens outwards and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the toilet door opening is 96cm.
- The toilet door has a twist lock.
- The dimensions of the cubicle are 203cm x 248cm and it has a turning space of at least 150cm x 150cm.
- There are lateral transfer spaces on both sides of the toilet but the left side, as you look at it, is obstructed.
- The lateral transfer space on the left is 73cm from the side of the toilet pan to the wall.
- The lateral transfer space on the right is 72cm from the side of the toilet pan to the wall.
- There is a push button flush on the wall above the cistern.
- There is a dropdown rail on both sides of the seat.
- The following fixtures can be reached from the toilet seat: a toilet roll holder on the dropdown rail.
- The following fixtures cannot be reached from the toilet seat: the wash basin, the soap dispenser and hand dryer.
- The following fixtures are at the recommended height: the soap dispenser (between 80cm - 100cm) and hand dryer (between 80cm - 100cm).
- The following fixtures are not at the recommended height: the toilet seat (not at 48cm), the toilet roll holder (not between 80cm - 100cm), the wash basin (not between 72cm - 74cm) and the baby changing facility (not at 75cm).
- The wash basin tap type is lever mixer.
- The following have a high colour contrast with their surroundings: the floor and the internal toilet door.
- The following have a less clear colour contrast with their surroundings: both dropdown rails and the toilet seat.

- There is also a female toilet in the same location.

- The ramp is slight over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
- The toilet door is manual, opens inwards and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the toilet door opening is 80cm.
- The width of the door into the toilet cubicle is not over 75cm.
- The wash basin tap type is sensor.
