Access Guide
Getting to (Adult Only Indoor Pool)
- The adults-only indoor pool is located in the Tennis and Sports Centre.
- The most accessible route has slight ramps/slopes, a steep ramp/slope (which bypasses any steps) and automatic doors.
- The nearest toilet with adaptations for disabled people is in the Artemis Restaurant, please click here for more information (new tab).
Lift
- The lift is located ahead as you enter the Sports Centre.
- The floors that can be accessed from this lift are -2, -1, 0, 1, 2.
- This lift is a standard lift.
- Externally the lift has: a door with a medium colour contrast to the surroundings, buttons with a low colour contrast to the surroundings, controls at a recommended height (between 90cm - 120cm) and tactile markings.
- The lift door opening width is 106cm.
- The dimensions of the lift are 121cm x 189cm.
- Internally the lift has; a mirror to aid reversing, controls at a recommended height (between 90cm - 120cm), tactile markings, buttons with a high colour contrast to the surroundings and a visual floor indicator.
Stairs
- The floors which are accessible by stairs are -2, -1, 0, 1, 2.
- There are 15+ steps between floors with resting points (landings).
- The stairs are not clearly marked and have no handrails.
Entrance
- The entrance to the swimming pool is located on level -2 of the Tennis and Sports Centre.

Swimming Pool (Large Indoor Pool)

Swimming Pool (Small Indoor Pool)
- This is an indoor swimming pool.
- Access into the water is via steps.
- There are 5 steps with no handrails.

Changing Area
- The facilities available within the changing area include; standard changing rooms/cubicles, standard showers and standard toilets.
- The female changing area was surveyed, and there are also male changing areas available.
- There is step-free level access into the area.
- The door is manual, opens inwards and has a low colour contrast.
- The width of the door opening is 80cm.
- There is step-free level access around the area.
- There is hard flooring.
- The flooring is not shiny or patterned.
- The seating in the changing area includes: bench seats.
- The changing area includes: tall lockers and lockers with the lock at the recommended height for seated users.
