Getting to (Main Outdoor Pool)

  • The Main Outdoor Pool is located in the grounds to the rear left of the hotel, straight ahead as you exit the building from French Street on Level -1, along the tree-lined pathway.
  • The most accessible route has step-free level access, a lift, automatic doors and doors permanently held open.

Swimming Pool (Main Outdoor Pool)

  • This is an outdoor swimming pool.
  • There is step-free level access into the pool area.
  • Access to the swimming pool is via lift, for more information see the lift section of the Lift (Right Wing - Accessible Lift) Access Guide (new tab).
  • Access into the water is via a ladder or steps.
  • There are 10+ steps with no handrails.
  • There is step-free level access around some of the pool.
  • There is a raised area which has ramped access.
  • The following adaptations are available for disabled people: hydraulic hoist.
  • The pool has a lifeguard on duty at peak times only.
  • Seating around the pool includes: sun loungers.
  • Additional facilities include: poolside showers.
  • The flooring is hard.

  • There is step-free level access to the poolside bar.
  • There is step-free access to the poolside showers, via a slight slope.
  • All ramps around the poolside can be bypassed by walking on the level grass surface (very slight slopes). The only exception is the poolside showers, which are located a few metres away from the pool, down a slight grassy slope.

Changing Area (West of Main Outdoor Pool - Opposite Starbucks by Beach)

  • The facilities available within the changing area include; standard changing rooms/cubicles and standard showers.
  • The shared changing area was surveyed, and available.
  • There is step-free level access into the area.
  • The door is manual, opens inwards and has a high colour contrast.
  • The width of the door opening is 75cm.
  • There is step-free level access around the area.
  • There is hard flooring and deep pile carpet.
  • The flooring is shiny.
  • The seating in the changing area includes: bench seats.
  • The changing area has: step-free standard showers.
  • The showers have a fixed overhead shower head.

Toilet with Adaptations for Disabled People (Centre of Main Outdoor Pool - Left Hand Transfer)

  • There is step-free level access into the toilet.
  • There is pictorial signage on or near the toilet door.
  • The toilet door is manual, opens outwards and has a medium colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the toilet door opening is 96cm.
  • The toilet door has a sliding bolt lock.
  • The dimensions of the cubicle are 200cm x 134cm and it does not have a 150cm x 150cm turning space.
  • There is a lateral transfer space to the left of the toilet as you look at it, but it is obstructed.
  • The lateral transfer space is 136cm (from the side of the toilet pan to the wall).
  • There is a push button flush on the wall above the cistern.
  • The following grab rails are available: a horizontal grab rail on the non-transfer side.
  • There is a dropdown rail on the transfer side.
  • The following fixtures can be reached from the toilet seat: the toilet roll holder and a toilet roll holder on the dropdown rail.
  • The following fixtures cannot be reached from the toilet seat: the wash basin and the soap dispenser.
  • The following fixtures are at the recommended height: the toilet seat (48cm), the toilet roll holder (between 80cm - 100cm) and the soap dispenser (between 80cm - 100cm).
  • The following fixtures are not at the recommended height: the wash basin (not between 72cm - 74cm).
  • The wash basin tap type is lever mixer.
  • The following have a high colour contrast with their surroundings: the internal toilet door, the grab rail and the dropdown rail.
  • The following have a less clear colour contrast with their surroundings: the floor and the toilet seat.
  • There is no emergency alarm.
  • The toilet has a mirror which has been angled for ease of use.
  • There is no shelf in the toilet.
  • The cubicle has a waste bin without lid.
  • There are no coat hooks.
  • Due to being obstructed by the sink, the useable transfer space is 54cm. There is no towel dispenser or hand dryer.

Toilet (West of Main Outdoor Pool - Beach - Opposite Starbucks)

  • The male and female standard toilets were surveyed.
  • There is step-free level access into the toilet.
  • The toilet door is manual, opens inwards and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the toilet door opening is 75cm.
  • The width of the door into the toilet cubicle is not over 75cm.
  • The wash basin tap type is lever mixer.

Toilet (Centre of Main Outdoor Pool)

  • The male standard toilet was surveyed.
  • There is step-free level access into the toilet.
  • The toilet door is manual, opens inwards and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the toilet door opening is 75cm.
  • The width of the door into the toilet cubicle is not over 75cm.
  • The wash basin tap type is sensor.
  • There is a baby change facility which is not at a recommended height (75cm).
  • There is only a baby change table in the female toilets.
