Access Guide
Getting to the Room (Adapted Room 1118)
- The average walking time to the room is 5 minutes.
- Turn right and go straight ahead to the end of the building. Turn left, and after a short distance, you will reach the right wing lifts. Ascend one of the right wing lifts to Level 1. Turn left (right if using the accessible lift) along the corridor. After a short distance, Adapted Room 1118 is on your left.
- The most accessible route to the room has step-free level access, a standard lift and doors permanently held open.
- The majority of walkway widths on the route to the room are over 180cm.
- Some flooring on the route is shiny and patterned.
Room (Adapted Room 1118)
- This room has adaptations for disabled people. There are 8 rooms of this type in the resort.
- All rooms with adaptations for disabled people are similar to the one surveyed.
- There is step-free level access into the room.
- The room door is manual, opens outwards and has a high colour contrast.
- The room door opening is 100cm wide.
- The bed type is double.
- The top of the mattress is 71cm from the floor.
- The space under the bed is 12cm high.
- Furniture cannot be moved to enable a turning space (150cm x 150cm) next to the bed.
- There is low pile carpet.
- The flooring is patterned.
- Seating in the room includes: a height adjustable chair without armrests.
- The following adaptations are available: a desk at a recommended height (between 72cm - 76cm), adapted wardrobes for seated users, light switches at a recommended height (between 75cm - 120cm), plug sockets at a recommended height (between 40cm - 100cm) and bedside plug sockets.
- The following adaptations are not available: window controls at a recommended height (between 80cm - 100cm) and a lowered spyhole.
- The room has a fridge. This can be used to store medication.
- The room does not have an emergency alarm.
- The room does have a flashing fire alarm.
- The room does not have a ceiling track hoist.
- The following have a high colour contrast with their surroundings: the internal room door.
- The following have a less clear colour contrast with their surroundings: the room floor and the ensuite door.
- Lighting levels can be adjusted.

Balcony / Terrace

- There is a balcony. The door is over 75cm wide and has a small threshold.
- The balcony has: a coffee table and chairs with armrests.

Living Area

- The telephone located next to the bed can be used as an emergency alarm. A bench seat is also available.
Ensuite (Adapted Room 1118 - Right Hand Transfer)
- The ensuite door slides open and has an opening width of 84cm.
- There is room for a wheelchair user to turn in the ensuite (150cm x 150cm).
- There is a lateral transfer space on the right hand side of the toilet with a minimum width of 226cm.
- There is hard flooring.
- The flooring is shiny.
- The toilet seat is 46cm from the floor.
- There is a dropdown rail on the transfer side.
- Grab rails in the ensuite include: a horizontal grab rail on the non transfer side, vertical grab rails at the shower and a diagonal grab rail at the shower.
- Fixtures that are in reach from the toilet include: the toilet roll holder.
- Fixtures that are out of reach from the toilet include: the wash basin and the soap dispenser.
- The taps are lever mixer.
- The ensuite does have an emergency alarm.
- The ensuite does have a flashing fire alarm.
- The following have a less clear colour contrast with their surroundings: the internal door, all grab rails, the dropdown rail, the floor and the toilet seat.
- The ensuite has: a wheel-in shower.
- There is a turning space in the shower for a wheelchair user (150cm x 150cm).
- There is an adjustable, detachable shower head not at a recommended height (between 105cm - 185cm).
- There is a flip-down shower seat.
- There are no dropdown rails for the shower.
- The pull cord emergency alarm is out of reach. There is also an emergency telephone alarm next to the toilet.
