Getting to the Room (Adapted Room 2102)

  • The average walking time to the room is 5 minutes.
  • Head through the doors to the rear right of the Main Reception Lobby, then up the ramp (minimum width 86cm), which brings you out into the Port Queen Reception Lobby. Go straight across the Port Queen Reception Lobby, then turn right and then immediately left along the corridor by the luggage room. Go down the ramp in this corridor, then turn left and then right, ignoring the ramp leading down into the service yard. Follow the corridor to the end and turn left; Adapted Room 2102 is shortly on your right.
  • The most accessible route to the room has a slight ramp/slope, a steep ramp/slope and doors permanently held open.
  • The majority of walkway widths on the route to the room are between 120cm and 180cm.
  • Some flooring on the route is shiny and patterned.

Room (Adapted Room 2102)

  • This room has adaptations for disabled people. There are 10 rooms of this type in the resort.
  • All rooms with adaptations for disabled people are similar to the one surveyed.
  • There is step-free level access into the room.
  • The room door is manual, opens outwards and has a high colour contrast.
  • The room door opening is 85cm wide.
  • The bed type is made from two single beds pushed together.
  • The top of the mattress is 60cm from the floor.
  • The space under the bed is 13cm high.
  • There is room for a wheelchair user to turn next to the bed (150cm x 150cm).
  • There is hard flooring and deep pile carpet.
  • The flooring is shiny.
  • Seating in the room includes: chairs with armrests and a sofa.
  • The following adaptations are available: light switches at a recommended height (between 75cm - 120cm), plug sockets at a recommended height (between 40cm - 100cm), bedside plug sockets and window controls at a recommended height (between 80cm - 100cm).
  • The following adaptations are not available: a desk at a recommended height (between 72cm - 76cm), adapted wardrobes for seated users and a lowered spyhole.
  • The room has a fridge. This can be used to store medication.
  • The room does have an emergency alarm.
  • The room does have a flashing fire alarm.
  • The room does not have a ceiling track hoist.
  • The following have a high colour contrast with their surroundings: the internal room door and the ensuite door.
  • The following have a less clear colour contrast with their surroundings: the room floor.
  • Lighting levels can be adjusted.
  • Balcony / Terrace View
    • There is a balcony. The door is over 75cm wide and has a small threshold.
    • The balcony has: a patio table and chairs with armrests.
  • Living Area View
    • The room has a telephone which can be used as an emergency alarm.

Ensuite (Adapted Room 2102)

  • The ensuite door opens towards you and has an opening width of 84cm.
  • There is room for a wheelchair user to turn in the ensuite (150cm x 150cm).
  • There is a lateral transfer space on the left hand side of the toilet with a minimum width of 162cm.
  • There is hard flooring.
  • The flooring is not shiny or patterned.
  • The toilet seat is 47cm from the floor.
  • There is a dropdown rail on the transfer side.
  • Grab rails in the ensuite include: a horizontal grab rail on the non transfer side, a vertical grab rail on the non transfer side, a horizontal grab rail at the shower and vertical grab rails at the shower.
  • Fixtures that are in reach from the toilet include: the toilet roll holder.
  • Fixtures that are out of reach from the toilet include: the wash basin and the soap dispenser.
  • The taps are lever mixer.
  • The ensuite does have an emergency alarm.
  • The ensuite does not have a flashing fire alarm.
  • The following have a high colour contrast with their surroundings: the internal door.
  • The following have a less clear colour contrast with their surroundings: all grab rails, the dropdown rail, the floor and the toilet seat.
  • The ensuite has: a wheel-in shower.
  • There is a turning space in the shower for a wheelchair user (150cm x 150cm).
  • There is an adjustable, detachable shower head not at a recommended height (between 105cm - 185cm) and a fixed overhead shower head.
  • There is a flip-down shower seat.
  • There are no dropdown rails for the shower.
  • The pull cord alarm is out of reach. There is also an emergency telephone alarm system.
