Getting to the Room (214)

  • From the reception lobby, take a lift to level 2. On exiting the lift turn right.
  • Take another right turn into the room corridor and room 214 is on the left hand side.
  • The most accessible route to the room has step-free level access, a standard lift and doors permanently held open.
  • The majority of walkway widths on the route to the room are between 120cm and 180cm.
  • Some flooring on the route is patterned.

Room (214)

  • There is step-free level access into the room.
  • The room door is manual, opens inwards and has a high colour contrast.
  • The room door opening is 80cm wide.
  • The bed type is made from two single beds pushed together.
  • The top of the mattress is 60cm from the floor.
  • The space under the bed is 14cm high.
  • There is room for a wheelchair user to turn next to the bed (150cm x 150cm) .
  • There is hard flooring.
  • Seating in the room includes: a chair without armrests.
  • The following adaptations are available: light switches at a recommended height (between 75cm - 120cm), plug sockets at a recommended height (between 40cm - 100cm) and bedside plug sockets.
  • The following adaptations are not available: a desk at a recommended height (between 72cm - 76cm).
  • The room has a fridge. This cannot be used to store medication.
  • The room does have an emergency alarm.
  • The room does have a flashing fire alarm.
  • The following have a high colour contrast with their surroundings: the internal room door and the room floor.
  • The following have a less clear colour contrast with their surroundings: the ensuite door.

Ensuite (214)

  • The ensuite door opens away from you and has an opening width of 69cm.
  • There is not room for a wheelchair user to turn in the ensuite (150cm x 150cm).
  • There is no lateral transfer space next to the toilet, as there is not enough space.
  • There is hard flooring.
  • The flooring is shiny.
  • The toilet seat is 42cm from the floor.
  • There is no dropdown rail.
  • Fixtures that are in reach from the toilet include: the toilet roll holder and the wash basin.
  • The taps are lever mixer.
  • The ensuite does have an emergency alarm.
  • The following have a less clear colour contrast with their surroundings: the internal door, the floor and the toilet seat.
  • The ensuite has: a shower cubicle.
  • There is an adjustable, detachable shower head at a recommended height (between 105cm - 185cm) and a fixed height shower head.
  • There is no shower seat.
  • There are no dropdown rails for the shower.
  • There is a 5cm step into the shower cubicle.
