Getting to the Room (1002)

  • The average walking time to the room is 2 minutes.
  • Head along the corridor to the right hand side of the reception desk. Proceed down the ramp and exit the corridor via the manual door (90cm wide). Turn right and room 1002 is straight ahead of you.
  • The most accessible route to the room has step-free level access, a slight ramp/slope and manual doors.
  • The majority of walkway widths on the route to the room are between 120cm and 180cm.
  • Some flooring on the route is shiny.

Room (1002)

  • This room has adaptations for disabled people. There are 3 rooms of this type in the resort.
  • All rooms with adaptations for disabled people are similar to the one surveyed.
  • There is step-free level access into the room.
  • The room door is manual, opens inwards and has a high colour contrast.
  • The room door opening is 80cm wide.
  • The bed type is made from two single beds pushed together.
  • The top of the mattress is 48cm from the floor.
  • The space under the bed is 27cm high.
  • Furniture can be moved to enable a turning space (150cm x 150cm) next to the bed .
  • There is hard flooring.
  • The flooring is shiny and patterned.
  • The following adaptations are available: light switches at a recommended height (between 75cm - 120cm), plug sockets at a recommended height (between 40cm - 100cm) and bedside plug sockets.
  • The following adaptations are not available: a desk at a recommended height (between 72cm - 76cm) and window controls at a recommended height (between 80cm - 100cm).
  • The room has a fridge. This cannot be used to store medication.
  • The room does have an emergency alarm.
  • The room does not have a flashing fire alarm.
  • The following have a high colour contrast with their surroundings: the internal room door, the room floor and the ensuite door.
  • Balcony / Terrace View
    • There is a terrace. The door is over 75cm wide and has a short step .
    • The terrace has: a patio table and chairs with armrests.
  • Living Area View
    • Seating in the room includes: sofas.
    • There is hard flooring.
    • Furniture in the room includes: a dining table at a suitable height for wheelchair users (between 70cm - 80cm) and a coffee table.
    • There is a kitchenette available.
    • The kitchenette has low level cupboards.
    • The doors to the bedroom are 140cm wide, open away from you and have a high contrast.
    • The microwave controls are at a height of 50cm.

Ensuite (1002 - Right Hand Transfer)

  • The ensuite door opens away from you and has an opening width of 80cm.
  • There is not room for a wheelchair user to turn in the ensuite (150cm x 150cm).
  • There is a lateral transfer space on the right hand side of the toilet with a minimum width of 85cm .
  • There is hard flooring.
  • The flooring is patterned.
  • The toilet seat is 40cm from the floor.
  • There is a dropdown rail on the transfer side.
  • Grab rails in the ensuite include: a horizontal grab rail on the non transfer side and a diagonal grab rail at the bath.
  • Fixtures that are in reach from the toilet include: the toilet roll holder.
  • Fixtures that are out of reach from the toilet include: the wash basin and the soap dispenser.
  • The taps are lever mixer.
  • The ensuite does not have an emergency alarm.
  • The ensuite does not have a flashing fire alarm.
  • The following have a high colour contrast with their surroundings: the internal door, some grab rails and the floor.
  • The following have a less clear colour contrast with their surroundings: the toilet seat, the dropdown rail and some grab rails.
  • The ensuite has: a lowered bath and a shower head over the bath.
  • The height of the side of the bath from floor level is 44cm (1ft 5in).
  • There is an adjustable, detachable shower head not at a recommended height (between 105cm - 185cm).
  • There is no shower seat.
  • There are no dropdown rails for the shower.
