Access To
- The Arts Lecture Theatre is located at the south end of the William Guild Building.

- The most accessible route has step-free level access and manual doors.
- There is written text signage on or near the entrance.
- There is step-free level access to enter the rear of the lecture theatre.
- There are double automatic doors which open towards you.
- One of the doors was locked at the time of the survey.
- The doors require effort to open.
- The doors have a high visual contrast.
- There are two pairs of similar double doors on either side at the rear of the lecture theatre. The left entrance gives direct access to the designated seating.
Teaching
- This is a lecture theatre.
- There is step-free level access to the back row only.
- The following areas have stepped access: all tiered seating, stage, and speaker's desk.
- There is room for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm).
- There is a fixed hearing assistance system which is not clearly signed.
- The hearing assistance system could not be tested at the time of the survey.
- Floor coverings are not even and could potentially cause a trip hazard.
- The walls and floor have a high visual contrast.
- Lighting levels were even at the time of the survey, with unshaded light sources.
- Lighting levels are adjustable.
- There is tiered seating with steps that have a wall mounted handrail.
- There are designated spaces for wheelchair users.
- The designated spaces for wheelchair users are located at the rear of the lecture theatre on the left as you enter.
- There is step-free level access to the designated space surveyed.
- Companions sit next to you and in front of you.
- There is space for an assistance dog to rest.
- Seating available in the room includes: chairs with armrests, chairs without armrests, armchairs and riser recliner chairs.
- Furniture available in the room includes: desks.
- All desks and some seating are fixed.
- The surface heights are not suitable for wheelchair users.
- The clear underside space of the surfaces is not suitable for wheelchair users.
- The height of the speaker's desk/table is 90cm.
- The speaker's desk/table is not height adjustable.
- The height of the lectern is 108cm.
- The lectern is not height adjustable.
- This room has a projector screen.
- The walkway is narrow (77cm) to access the designated wheelchair spaces. Care should be taken of the top of the stairs.
- There are fire exits only at the front of the lecture theatre. .
