Access Guide
Access To
- KCF5 - Divinity Library is located on the first floor of the King's College building, to the left from the Gatehouse Building stairs.

- The most accessible route has steps.
- There is numbered and written text signage on or near the entrance.
- There is step-free level access into KCF5 - Divinity Library from the corridor.
- There are double manual doors which open away from you.
- One of the doors was locked at the time of the survey.
- The locked door can be opened on request .
- The width of the opening is 57cm.
- The doors have a medium visual contrast.
Library
- There is step-free level access throughout the majority of areas.
- The following areas have stepped access: the balcony level.
- There is room for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm).
- There is space for an assistance dog to rest in the seating area.
- The walls and floor have a medium visual contrast.
- Seating available in the library includes: chairs without armrests.
- Furniture available in the library includes: desks and tables.
- The surface heights are suitable for wheelchair users.
- The clear underside space of the surfaces is not suitable for wheelchair users.
- Lighting levels were uneven at the time of the survey, with pools of light and shade.
- Lighting levels are adjustable.
- There is not a hearing assistance system.
- There is a 76cm high reception desk on the right as you enter.
A cable near the rear left staircase may present a trip hazard.
Stairs (Balcony)
- The stairs surveyed are located at the rear of the library.
- The library and the balcony can be accessed by these stairs.
- There are 15 steps between floors.
- The steps are unmarked and have handrails on both sides.
- The handrails are easy to grip.
- The handrails do not cover the flight of stairs throughout its length.
- The handrails do not extend horizontally beyond the first and last step.
- The height of the steps is between 15cm and 18cm.
- The height of the highest step is 17cm.
- The depth of the steps is not between 30cm and 45cm.
- Lighting levels were uneven at the time of the survey, with pools of light and shade.
- Lighting levels are adjustable.
- Some areas of the balcony are narrow.
